Eye Twitching

So about a month prior to being dx'd with Fibro (but after displaying symptoms of fibro) my left eye started twitching. I didn't think much of it as this has happened on and off during my life and it never really lasted for more than a few hours or days max. Also, I know eye twitching is fairly common.

However, I pretty much have had this twitching on and off for about 4 months now. I did have my yearly ophthalmologist exam after the twitching started (of course I totally forgot to mention it at the exam) and everything looked good with my eyes. I can't attribute it to a side effect of the Cymbalta or the extra supplements because I started all that after the twitching. Everything I'm taking is supposed to be helping with the muscle spasms!!! I did some googling to see if this was common with Fibro and it seems it is.

Anyone else experience eye twitching from their Fibro? If so, what do you do for it? I have lowered the caffeine a little because I know it makes it worse.

I get eye twitching now and then. Here's what one website says to do:

Drink less caffeine.
Get adequate sleep.
Keep your eye surfaces lubricated with over-the-counter artificial tears or eye drops.
Apply a warm compress to your eyes when a spasm begins.

I just made an appt. with the eye doctor for Monday. I'm sure he'll find nothing, but it's driving me insane. I've never had the twitching go on for this long. I get muscle spasms everywhere so it wouldn't surprise me if this is also Fibro related. I just hope it goes away eventually.

I tried the warm compresses and no luck there. I also tried eye lubricating drops because I get dry eye and that didn't work either.

Adequate sleep may happen in another life lol.

Almost medfree - I have had dry eyes for years, but I'm kinda bad about consistently using the drops. My eye doctor recommended Systane last time I was there (I used to use something different). I have no idea if they are preservative free, but probably not. They don't bother me when I actually use them. I'll look for your brand next time I am in the pharmacy. Are they OTC?

BTW...I saw you posted on the Lyme forum. I'm surprised more people didn't chime in regarding your post if you should get retested or not. That is a very active board so if the timing is not right, your post bumps down to the bottom pretty quickly and may get overlooked. If you have your exact results (not sure if you got the Western Blot test) they are pretty good at interpreting them for you. The only thing is I feel like they think every result/symptom is indicative of Lyme. Though if you do actually have it they seem pretty supportive. I would say if you really think you may have it then you should pursue it further.

Maybe useless but better to know for sure. I used to go all the time but they just said I had neuro (also lesions on my brain that shouldn't be there) problems but didn't know why. I haven't went in probably 4 yrs now.

I go through bouts of eyelid twitching or my eye twitching. I have found for me it is an indication that I need to up my magnesium supplement. Once my magnesium is up, it goes away and stays away until I get another dip in the magnesium.
