Favorite heating pad brand name?

Hi: I hope everyone is doing well, despite this very unusual year!!

A few months ago, I bought a Sunbeam heating pad, as my other one is getting old, and I also wanted a larger one.

The new one is okay, but doesn't seem to heat nearly as well as my older one did. I don't want it on anything "hot," but I do like it fairly warm, especially in the coldest winter weather. I think maybe the issue is that the new one is quite a bit bigger, so the heating is just different--more spread out.

Does anyone here have another suggestion for a better heating pad? I'm okay with the new one, but just wondering if there's a different type that would be somewhat of an improvement.

I bought this one from Wal-Mart, where I generally buy household and other 'stuff,' so I'm especially interested in the heating pads available there, unless of course, you know of other sources.

I know what you mean about Sunbeam's settings. It seems the older ones from years past were better. I also have a "throw" size one by them that I wish was hotter. The only other brand I have is a Biddeford, and that's a full size blanket, which I love, and it gets very hot. I wish they made them as a regular sized heating pad!
What size is your new heating pad?

I think I'll also have to check into a full-size heated blanket. I do have a weighted blanket I'll soon be bringing out again for the colder months. I love it for helping me sleep better. But yes, a heated blanket would be more toasty.

It sure would be nice, as you said, if they made them as a regular-sized heating pad. Maybe it's time to be creative and design one--good business venture, maybe? smile

My new heating pad is about 24" x 12". My older one was 15" by 12". You wouldn't think heat would get "lost" just because it's a larger size. I was sure disappointed and maybe I'll have to check into that Biddeford blanket you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up!

BTW, do you have any issues with wires or anything else that would be uncomfortable in the Biddeford? Or the weight? Seems every Fall I go back and forth on whether or not to get something like an electric blanket. They do sound very cozy! smile

I just looked at my Biddeford blanket and it's actually a "throw", not a full size blanket! Lol, it's huge though, bigger than the throw I have by Sunbeam. I use it on the bed during the winter. The Biddeford throw measures roughly 60 x 52, and the Sunbeam is 26 x 52. Both have wires that you can definitely feel, but it's not too bad. You get used to it. I think you'd like the Sunbeam throw bc it doesn't get super hot and it's comfortable to wrap up in on the couch. It's lightweight. I use that one year round.

Hi again: I hope to get one of those throws. They sound promising and I'm also one who loves to wrap up in a (regular) blanket on the couch, so an electric one would be a bonus! One you could use year round would be a real plus. Thanks again for that info!

P.S. I just noticed the very last line at the bottom of your post ("My nurse called to confirm..."). LOL!! smile
