Thanks forum & lyrica question for you guys

Hi guys. I haven't posted in a while. I came here when I was considering going to a doctor to see if I had fibro, because my other docs said nothing was wrong - you know the drill. The people on the forum encouraged me to go to the new doc and it really helped.

After a few appt.s now My doctor says I have myaglia - not fibromyaglia, because it's not as bad as that, but simple myalgia. I can't imagine what most of you have to go through if mine isn't even that bad. I feel for you guys. When I first started the lyrica everything got better pretty quickly, so my doc has kept me at a low dose, 150 x 2 times a day. I still have soreness pretty often, but the very sharp pains that made me unable to do stuff has stopped. I tried taking a bit higher dose of 200 x2 but it made me feel very dizzy and disoriented. So I said I will stick at 150 x 2 for now until I feel I need to try the higher again. I couldn't work the day I took 200x2 so I figured what's the point? lol. My other doc. gave me a prescription for Ambien so I get better sleep too an that helps during the day, not as sleepy.

When I first started taking Lyrica my mom basically freaked out. Thanks to the members on the forum I was able to get through it and not stress about her. She has since come around and decided that it is okay to take it since it helps me. Anyway without you guys I would have been incredibly stressed and hurt, and you guys really helped a lot.



Anyway my question is if anyone who experiences skin burning pain has had it come back when taking Lyrica? But the other day the skin burning happened again. I'm not supposed to go back for another 4 months and it's expensive for me to go there so I don't want to go back to the doc yet if I don't have to. So is it normal to have only some of the symptoms go away when you take Lyrica? I have soreness still but that is okay, I mean I would love for it to be gone too but I can't work if I'm dizzy all day, you know?

Great to hear from you again. I can't handle Lyrica but have seen others report on how they handle it. Often people will get quick and good pain relief from it. Then, after some time, pain will slowly come back. Maybe no all or maybe it just stops working. There's no way to know if this will happen to you. I do know that burning pain you describe. I get in in my back near both shoulder blades and it's so debilitating.

Can you just call your doc and ask for him to call you back to talk about it? I know my doc will and he doesn't charge anything. But we have a very rural "country" style doctor who still makes house calls once a week! It may be worth a try.

Chutz: "people will get quick and good pain relief from it. Then, after some time, pain will slowly come back. " That is sort of what it feels like. I will probably talk to the doc soon if it gets any worse and see if upping the dose will help, maybe I can adjust to it.

Marlee, the only thing I know about the skin burning is that it has always been my left leg, and always starts in the evening. Now I say always but it has only happened one really awful time, and 4 minor times. The really bad one it lasted all night, kept me up because I couldn't wear my pajamas and the sheets burned my skin. Lately it has just been my lower leg so I can wear shorts and deal with it. It burns less when nothing touches it. So I sit on the couch with my feet up and it is bearable. It hasn't stormed lately though.
