Malic Acid to be exact. It came in the mail today. I think I'll start taking it tomorrow morning with breakfast when I take the rest of my vitamins. I guess I'll start with one pill and work my way up. What's a good amount of time to wait before increasing the dosage? For those of you on malic acid, about how long after you worked your way up to the full dose did you start to feel better?

I'm also wondering how this supplement is going to effect my ibs. I take fiber supplements for constipation but I'm wondering if combined with the magnesium in the malic acid supplements would loosen me up way too much. I did ask a pharmacist and she told me that I should keep taking the fiber and see what happens. I guess I'll follow her advice, but I'm still a bit nervous.

Good questions!  I'm waiting for my supplements to come, I just ordered it yesterday.  I hope it works for us both.  I have similiar problems with the constipation so I'm glad you asked that question.

I waited to see how it affected my body.  I was watching for diarrhea.  When it didn't happen, I took two pills...one in the morning and one and night.  I just kept adding it and spacing the supplement and watching for diarrhea.  It never bothered me at all.  Reread the thread.  It explains this.

 

I can't remember how long before I felt better.  I think it was in a week or two.  It wasn't very long.  I hope this works for you!

Hey you guys,

I think that it is wonderful that you are both taking the malic/magnesium supplements. I took one for a few days, then went to two. I did that for a few days. Then I would take two in the morning and one in the afternoon, you can reverse that if you want. Then worked my way up to two twice a day. I started noticing the magnesium right away by the way my muscles felt better. The rest of it came within a week. I know that it isn't the same for everybody, but I got good results quite quickly.

Well small update. I've now been taking the malic acid for a couple of days, 1 pill at breakfast. I am getting the diarrhea with it, but I'm not entirely sure if I can blame it on the supplements because it started happened a couple of days before I began taking it. I guess I'll stop taking the fiber supplements that I had been taking for constipation and see what happens.

I really hope that this will clear up soon because I don't dare increase the dose until it does.
