Hi there, i am a 30 year old female, who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in october of 2006, and in april of 2007, i had a horrific car accident, when diagnosed for fibromyalgia, i tested positive for all 18 tender points, and also have some osteoarthritis in my lower back and hips.

The insurance company from the car accident is trying to say that nothing happened to me in the accident, and thats all just a put on, because of the existing fibromyalgia, that i had already.......

Most recently i have been experiencing gastrointestinal problems, a loss of about 35 pounds and losing, cramping, diarrhea, pelvic and abdominal distention, im curious as to wether digestive and intestinal problems are tied in with fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome?

can someone please help me? I seem to be just getting one thing after another,

I would just like to add, that i am currently being tested for crohns and celiacs disease as per my intestinal problems, i have lost a considerable amount of weight, im always tired, and my b12 is low, i cannot keep anything in my stomach hardly, without defecating, i almost always feel naseous, and even when i eat just a little bit, it makes me feel so full, and sick, so sometimes i dont even want to eat, its a horrible horrible feeling,
again, just wondering if this ties in with the fibromyalgia, or if there is anybody here that has both fibromyalgia and crohns, or celiacs and fibromyalgia, it would be intersting to find this out as well, thanks again....

Sounds like you're having a rough time of it one way or another.  Poor you

A couple of years back, I experienced very similar symptoms.  My weight plummeted, I could eat hardly anything without my entire gastro-intestinal system rebelling - from the neck down.  I would get heartburn, indigestion, a gnawing almost stinging pain in my stomach and the most horrifically painful abdominal cramps.  Many an evening I just had to curl up on my bed with a hot water bottle to try and ease the pain.  I also became anaemic, because when you have the runs constantly you are not absorbing iron and other vitamins & minerals.  After much testing, for coeliac etc., it turned out that I had chronic yeast - candida overload in the intestines.  It has taken a long time to get under control through diet and medication and I am still on a maintenance dose of anti-fungal medication

It's just a thought for you to explore if other tests don't show anything.  It is intolerable long term.  My candida was put down to extreme stress whilst going through divorce and the after math, as apparently your stress hormones feed the candida.  With you being under so much stress with your accident and hassle etc, it could just be a possibility

Hi, Kelly, and welcome to the fibromyalgia forum!  I'm glad you joined us!  I have Crohn's disease and many here have irritable bowel syndrome.  Many with fibro have that and it is a symptom of fibro.  Of course, the stress of having this illness is enough to get your bowels in an uproar!  shakehead

 

Check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to a lot of good info about fibromyalgia, along with a list of symptoms of fibromyalgia.  You might want to print that out and check the ones you seem to have.  You will see that you are not alone with all of these things. 

 

Many with fibro have a vitamin B deficiency and also there are some with vitamin D deficiencies as well as magnesium and calcium deficiencies.  I just found out that I have a vitamin D deficiency. That can make you even more tired so maybe ask your doctor to do blood work and check out whether or not there are any vitamin deficiencies. 

 

Have you seen a gastroenterologist for your digestive problems?  If not, you really should.  You can't go on like that.  You need to be able to eat and absorb the nutrients.  There is help out there for you but you need to be seeing the right doctor for that.  Whenever I have any digestive problems, I see a gastroenterologist...not my primary care doctor.

Hi Kelly and welcome. I also have many digestive issues. I've had surgery for GERD, I have gastroparesis, stomach muscles do not work right and I have IBS. Some of my gastric problems started long before fibro so I don't know if there is a connection. Any time I get stressed my digestive system is the first to feel it.

 

You really need to get help with this your losing all your nutrients.
