I keep noticing more and more people say that they are living in Michigan, I am just curious how many of us are there???

I know we had this thread last year, but the people have changed.

I'm from Michigan. Way north though in the Upper Peninsula close to Lake Superior so Winter can be kind of nasty with the lake effect snows.

I live in the south cental UP but grew up in the Detroit area. I went to college in Houghton and lived in Marquette for several years so I do know what Meggie is talking about when it comes to winter. I'm living in the banana belt now :) Lisa

My girlfiiend's daughter is going to college in Marquette. My girlfriend has a cabin on Sugar Island also. They have some nasty winters. I am in the snowbelt so we get dumped on a lot. We are in a valley so it kind of drops in. LOL...

I am parrellel with Traverse City, fifty miles east. I love my four seasons, but winter just seems to stay too long. I use to cross country ski and it makes it so much bearable.

I am also near the AuSable river, it is so beautiful. But I notice we all have major flares in autumn and spring. Blaming the barometric pressure again. Though there is nothing more beautiful than the blue skies of October and the crisp clean air.

Karen, I am very close to Marquette. I hope your friends daughter is enjoying school here. This has always been my favorite time of year because it is so pretty here. A nice long walk in the woods on a cool day was (hurt to much now) always something I liked to do. The trees are changing color and Lake Superior is so beautiful. Michigan is a great place to be if you don't have Fibro. Of course, is there a good place to live if you have fibro.

I know what you mean Meggie, It is beautiful, but so hard to tolerate in the winter. If I can stay active I am okay, but the weather always seems to get me.

Anyways, we have to enjoy these days while we can. It has been raining here all day and I believe it will rain for a few more yet. But then it should be pleasant.

Actually, it was awesome! Got some time out in the boat (first time we've had it out in two years!) and went swimming at the drop off where I can dive from the boat! Going back up to close the trailer for winter this next weekend. Always a bit sad to see summer end, but for everything there is a season. Love it up there! My grandkids call it "The Little House" and now that we have our 'new' old trailer (it's new to us!) they call it Little House, too! I gotta get a sign made!

That all sounds so wonderful. I am so happy that you got to spend some time here up north and that it was enjoyable.

Boy this summer sure went fast didn't it? I didn't even get a chance to go fishing. Hopefully yet this fall.

I think I told you my sister's mom (long story) lives in Northport. But she usually goes to Florida in the winter. I haven't been there, I guess it is a big farm with an orchard. Would love to see it sometime.

I don't think that I have welcomed you yet, so welcome to HealingWell. I am so happy that you have become a member here. I notice that there are a lot of us from Michigan. Luckily for you though the winters aren't as hard down there. My husband use to live in Eau Claire, is that anywhere near you? Barien county I think, if I spelled that right. My sister llives in Vicksburg.

Let's see, Eau Claire is about 3 counties to the West of me.  Vicksburg is about an hour and a 1/2 Northwest of me.

The winters sure feel hard to me.  If it's not 90+ degrees, it's too cold LOL  I have been freezing all day.  House closed up, sweats and sweatshirt, socks . . .  my husband asked what the heck I was gonna do when it really got cold LOL

I find that winter is easier for me when I can move around. I use to cross country ski every year. I am going to try again, but I wont beat myself up if I cannot do it. I will be bummed though.

We are just starting to get some color here in the trees. I hope that we have a long autumn this year. Indian summer.

We did have sun today, so it was a bit nicer.

Brie, winter is hard on me too!  Despite that I am going to make an attempt to get myself out of doors this winter and hopefully do some snowshoeing.  I still haven't figured out how I'm going to keep the cold from attacking my muscles right away but I still have a few weeks left eyes . 

If I had it my way, it would be autumn all year round.  I love this time of year smilewinkgrin .

Also from MI. I am in southern Macomb county (north of Detroit). My son goes to college in Big Rapids (on the west side of the state).

Princess,

I can't believe that the leaves are falling there already. What kind of trees do you have in your yard. They are just starting to change here. I have a lot of maples, they drop the leaves after they turn. Sometimes I get so disappointed. There will be beautiful color and then we get a windy day and all the leaves fall off. Oh well. I hope to take some beautiful pictures of the color change this year. Will post them if I do.

Our leaves are just starting to turn here.  You can see a few colors here and there.  I'm sure the colors will start to explode in the next couple weeks :-)

We have a large maple right outside our back door, then an apple tree all the way at the end of the yard.  There are some trees that divide the property line with the neighbor, but I'm not sure what those are called LOL They are not very big.

This is the second time that I called you by your member name instead of your real name. I am sorry for that. I like Brie. My niece's name is Breanna. I always like that name.

We have a lot of trees, Maples all around us. So there is a lot of leaves to rake in the fall. But they make perfect garden mulch once they break down. So we do get some use out of them.

I was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan...
Married to an Air Force guy and moved, finally settled in Texas...
I like our winter down here a lot better than up north...
