Hello All,

Just found your forum and have read some of the post especially the 101 info that helps alot

My name is Rebecca and I was diagnosed sept 2 this  year and boy was I glad that they found something wrong with me, because I thought I was losing it and there was no pain it was just in my head, I got into the dr very quick and found a doctor that new exactly what I had and from what I read thats very rare!!

I am in Arizona and have found that my pool is my savior I am getting ready to go back to the dr as the meds aren't working cymbalta and soma, if any one has suggestion to ask him I go back on the 2nd

Hi, Purpleprincess, and welcome to the fibromyalgia forum!  I'm so glad you joined in!  Why don't you ask your doctor about taking malic acid/magnesium supplements.  The info is on the Fibro 101 thread and there are links as to how it helps in the body and also a double blind study that was done.  I have had good success with it as have other members.  It doesn't help everyone but it's not a drug.  I always tell people to ask their doctor and pharmacist before taking anything...including herbs.

Hello Rebecca. Welcome to this forum. You will find a lot of good advice and comfort here. It's a great place to vent, ramble, and encourage others as you are being encouraged. I hope you like it here. I am sure you will. I joined not too long ago, and I love it here.

I am glad that you have checked out the fibro101 thread. As you already know, there is a lot of information there.

I have tried the malic/magnesium and it has helped me. I do take other medications though too. Also vitamin D is good for fibro. I am suprised that you aren't getting any help from the soma. I take that and it helps me a lot. Though I have found different generics aren't always as good. I usually get mine from a local store and they say "united research" on them. They to me are better than the brand name. But as I have said, I have had some that didn't work at all. The brand name made me nauseated. They were like they were too strong.

I've been seriously considering the malic acid magnesium route. I've always had the fatigue (as long as I can remember) but it's starting to get annoying more lately. I know part of it is my schedule. I have really weird work hours. I work 5 days a week. The first two days of the week I'm on an overnight. I start at 9pm and finish up about 6am. And then the other 3 days I work what's like bartender hours, I go in at 6pm and I'm usually wrapped up by about 3am. And no, I'm not a bartender - I just play one on my timecard. lol

Even though my work hours are wonky, unless I transfer to one of the day positions (when one finally opens up) I refuse to leave this job. I worked for a HUGE company where I was paid well, but I hated every minute of my job and most of the people that I worked with. Now... I have a job that for the most part is always interesting, and I have two supervisors (both of which I adore). I make a little bit less money but it's worth it to me to not feel sick to my stomach from stress every time that I pull into the parking lot to go to work.

Welcome to the forum and to the wacky world of fibromyalgia. You are among good friends here and the people are so kind and understanding.

I have had fibro for 28 years and recently the Lyrica has worked for me. It is the recent drug that has been approved for fibro. It really helps with my pain control.

Hello purpleprincess and welcome. Sorry your meds. aren't working for you. I take Malic acid with magnisium suppliments along with neurotin. They work really good for me and help with the fatigue as well.

 

I'm glad you found us! We have fun with our "daily check in" and vent, inform, and write back and forth on the posts. I'm relativly new here but am sooo glad I found this home. Hope to see you around the posts soon.------Smiles, Gennie

Hi Rebecca and welcome to the family. I love your name "purple princess". This is a great forum as you have already seen. You are lucky to have gotten a dx so quick. I didn't really know much about fibro when I was dxd so it was a surprise to me.

 

You will learn a lot on here on how to cope and adjust to the new body your in.
