Help!!! My doctor dumped me.

Since then I have been calling PCP's under my insurance only to find that either they are not taking new patients or I'm interviewed by the Receptionist.  Get this.... I'm asked the obvious questions about insurance and then they work into... do I have any health issues that they should note.  Have I been diagnosed with anything or am I in pain management.  Today I finally lied and said "Well I'm 40, things are starting to fall apart".  She said that she would take it to the Doctor and they would call me if the doctor decides to accept me.  I started out calling doctors asking if they were familiar or comfortable treating Fibro patients.  Now I'm avoiding the topic and I even lied.

I have been a year without a PCP.  I have seen the Rhuemy who has given me my current meds, but I have to have a PCP and I refuse to see the one that told me to go away, after eight years of my whole family being under his care.

What do I do?  I called my insurance and asked for help.  It was suggested that I try an internest and she gave me 10 names in my area, but have you lied to get into a doctors office and it's things like this that really bother me.  Talk about discrimination.  What is up with that?  As if I diagnosed myself.  Pain management is not something I have chosen.  What the heck?  When did they start interviewing patients?

Any advice is really appreciated.  Sorry so long!  I'm a bit worked up.

Tricia, why don't you call the rheumatologist that diagnosed you and explain the problem.  He/she may give you a referral and may help you get in to see the doctor they suggest.  You shouldn't be going through this.  It's absolutely ridiculous!  Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath they have to take?!!!!

Actually it can be illegal and a doctor can be charged with abondonment, however, it can be tricky. There are certain guidelines a doc is supposed to follow to terminate a patient relationship and they are supposed to provide care until you can find another doctor, among other things. But if you really wanted to go the legal route, you would need a lawyer, etc...as you would have to prove the abondonment. If you ever think about this, then it's best to keep track of every single thing.

I can understand if the doc knows nothing about Fibro, then how can they try to treat you? But if you had a referral to a Rheumatologist, I don't undertstand why the Rheum isn't treating you for the Fibro? Do you mean your primary HAS to treat you, according to your insurance?
