be careful at gas pumps

I got up this am and decided to balance my check book. went online and found over 400.00 in atm charges that were not ours

called bank. they had already red flagged my account, Apparently the newst thing is crooks have a little tiny scanner the size of a pin head that they are putting  on the atm/ credit machines and when you use your card it scans your info and a couple weeks to months later they have a card made with your number and use it. unfortunatly there is no way to know if your card is being scanned. the lady at the bank also told me when you are in line shopping beaware of what is going on around you people with camera phones are taking pictures of your card. She told me to make sure I hold my finger over the number when It is in your hand and do not let anyone lay your card on the counter

If people are smart enough to figure this stuff out why cant they use it for something good . I hope you all heed my warning because I cant afford to have that much money missing from my account.

It is my atmvisa card it comes directly out of my bank account. The bank will replace the money but it can take anywhere from 5-30 days until all the paper work has cleared. It is more of a hassle doing the paper work. then I had to close out my account. Then I realized I have stuff that comes out automatically now I have to call all those people and change accounts with them. I have to checking accounts at this bank so I closed the one and transfered everything except for the amount I have checks out for.

I'm sorry LeeAnn, I'm sure you didn't need the added stress. The only card I use is my ATM card which requires a pin number. I try to do it as quickly as I can if there is someone behind me in line, guess that isn't even safe. Yes if these people would only put their brains to good use. I will be checking my checking account more often cause some times I may only check it every couple of weeks.
