Anyone having trouble with buttock pain?

I know it sounds wierd but I have been having a lot of pain that starts dead center on each butt cheek and runs down the big muscles on the backs of my legs.  I have been trying to finish getting the house decorated for x-mas but bending over hurts so much cause you stretch all through those muscles.  Also having lots of sharp pain all along the tendons in my feet and anckles specially with the cold.

I get that too.  A lot.  For me, it's sacroiliitis. The pain originates in the big flat bone that goes across the lowest part of your back, right where the butt cheeks are.  The pain can go straight down my legs, and also settle in each hip joint.  It's BRUTAL.  I'm flaring with it right now actually.  My Fibro makes it worse.  I hope this isn't what you have.....

Oh Karen, Karen, Karen nono    Do you know how hard it is to not make a joke outta your "pain in the butt" ???? devil    But I am not gonna do that...no sirreee wink

That pain that goes from centre lower back and down your legs sound like siatica (sp?)  Have you had pinched nerve problems in your back in the past?  I have heard it is very painful...but I dont know how it is treated.  I'm sure there is someone on here with that problem..unfortunately.

As for your feet discomfort, I have had thaT...but I never connected it to fibro.

Hope you find relief soon

At the sacrum right? thats the bone that I ended up with it tipped and cracked when I fell down the stairs. Its always hurt there but this butt pain is new and I didnt know it had a name or was any certain condision. It feels like a did about a million butt tightening exercises.

Hi,

Only minutes ago I joined this group, so glad to have someone to share this fibro with. I opened this up b/c your butt pain is exactly one of my greatest problems along with the back of the thighs. The reason I found this group is I was goggling toe cramps and hit this site. I must be in what you term a good flare b/c I am really suffering. Christmas dead ahead and so wonder if the stress of it all is getting to me.

Any ideas will be so appreciated.

oh I have a pain in the butt, I mean butt pain too, it feels like when you have done some major hiking. Not a lot i have found for it I have tried sitting on my warm rice bag and a heating pad. Hope your butts better soon

I also have a "pain in the butt" same exact thing you describe. It was really bad yesterday and my legs felt like jello. I have to wear a big elastic back brace that I bought at walmart. I wear it around my butt and people think its funny but it literally keeps my two vertebrae (L4-L5) from falling on itself. Talk about self help...My last posts expalins how my doctors do nothing so I am forced to be creative all on my own. If it helps I do it. Like sleeping on tennis balls, whatever. I'm NOT suggesting you do this ...its just what I have to do to get by.

Oh and I also have the tailbone that is bent backwards and just kind hanging around in there. Looks great on an x-ray! I can feel it and it sticks right out and to the side (under the skin). feels like the end of a bone actually. I flll on the icy stairs when I was 11. No doctor has ever addressed this. I guess they must see a lot of people with tail bones that stick out of their butt crack!!!!!

I've had this for 2 days and traced it back to sitting in a WHEELCHAIR on Saturday being wheeled around the mall Christmas shopping. The wheelchair only had one foot pedal, so I guess my legs were sort of tense....anyway, I thought it was HILARIOUS! (sick sense of humour, I know...but it seems so ironic...aren't wheelchairs supposed to help? lol) Anyway, I wonder if you're bending over a lot to put up Christmas decorations if this could have caused your "pain in the a**"

I have this and dad gum its horrid! I get it reaching up high for something, and also climbing the stairs, usually the top couple of stairs on each of my level of steps. Its like a charley horse in the top back of the thigh. Sometimes it is so bad that I feel nauseated! So far I haven't found anything that helps, but my massage therapist is going to work on it next week.

Oh if I have to do stairs I am doomed or for that matter steep inclines or hills. I get this horrible cramping in a complete circle of my low low back right above the booty and then it spreads down through my butt and into my legs. And ya just cant walk that pain off its almost as if you have pulled all those muscles back there. This pain can also bring on diarhea,its like a chain reaction once all those muscles start spasming out it moves to the muscles of my bowel.

Hi Karen-

Yes, I have had that "pain in the butt" - Both cheeks, deep pain and even cushioned chairs did not help. I got it more when the fibro first hit. I don't have it now "but" (no pun intended) can relate.  smilewinkgrin

Hope it settles down for you soon. The cold is wreaking havoc on alot of us. Sherrine will need to get a MUCH bigger place to take us all in!

Owwwwwwwww Telula,that tailbone sounds like it needs to be adjusted back or takin out!  it can punture your bowel.  I had to have my tailbone removed after a accident at work.  I lifted a huge bin of ice without bending my legs and when I turned with it I felt this terrible sharp snap.  As the day progressed I had pain shooting down my leg and was actually dragging my leg.  The next morning I couldnt move at all and ended up on L&I for over 2 years with them fighting about accepting it as work related.  I had snapped my tailbone clean off the end of my spine and it was hooked only by ligaments.  Eventually I had the surgery to remove it on my private ins and lost the case with L&I.  I couldnt find a lawyer to take me on they all said ppl dont have thier tailbones takin out and I was like oh ya well I have a 10 inch scar up the middle of my butt to show they do!!  Ya they pretty much split you like a melon for this surgery and then its 2 months laying on your tummy while you heal.  I still have horrible tailbone pain there and me ripping some of the guitar string type stitches didnt help.  I think that adds to the low back pain and bowel pain.  But ya Telula have that checked out as mine was ripping into my low bowel,very dangerous.

newbie here (to this board...i'm on the UC board most times). i have the same problem. i have arthritis in my SI joint, sacroilitis, problems with sciatica, bursitis in my hip and IT band tendonitis down the side of my left leg. my main pain in my butt is the peraformas (?sp) muscle. it is a MAJOR muscle that connects the SI joint to the hip and beyond. it is a deep muscle and is very large. i've had problems with it for years! it basically covers most of your butt. it's possible that you aggravated it. it takes forever to get it to heal. i've been in PT for it since sept. 2007 amongst other reasons for being there. it definitely sucks! i find that ice helps it as does using an icy-hot rub. hope you find relief soon. so many wonderful things that come along with our diseases!

I share the pain with you all. There is a muscle that runs the length of the back of your leg (could be a ligament???) and for the life of me, I cannot think of the name right now, but the best thing you can do for it is stretch. While taking a warm shower, I will let the water run on my lower back and slowly bend down and grab the backs of my ankles or if you can go lower, go for it and just hold it for as long as you comfortably can, to stretch out the backs of your legs (no more than 20 or 30 seconds at a time). Doesn't make it go away, but it does help. That pain can be very very painful

Oh yes the old pain in the rear. Have gotten that off and on for years, where it hurts like crazy to sit? Try soft bed pillow, I carry mine room to room when this thing flares up. It seems this lovely affliction is a lot of comfort trial and error. What works for one, or works for one year, doesn't work for anyone else, or the next time it flares. It is so exasperating!! Good luck and try the pillow, and sit on the outside edge of your rear. Lucy

Me too... butt I have herniated disks so I think that's a big part of my deal. When it acts up I can just about always expect a fibro flare to follow.

I have that CONSTANTLY, it feels like. I'm actually in PT because of it...they say that because of the endometriosis I have (I notice you do as well), that my pelvic floor muscles are tightening up. They said as the muscles tighten up, being that your tailbone kind of ends down into that muscle, it starts kind of twisting your tailbone and spine a little. Mine is so bad that it threw my hip out of whack to the point where when I lay down, my right leg looks a couple of inches longer then the left! So they're trying to help with that. If I'm still not better, she said I may have sciatica too. I'm tired of having "everything"! lol
But yeah, I know the pain you're talking about. The worst part is that it's not like you can even really try to massage it. You can't hit the right area and when I tried, my boyfriend looked over at me and was like "Uh...hun? Are you rubbing your butt?"

Lol yeah.
