No, Fibromyalgia is not damaging. What you're feeling is pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons surrounding the joints. Not actually inside the joints. The pain is not damaging. It's just pain. Crazy eh?
Keeping active will benefit you greatly. Just make sure you listen to your body. If it's saying, "Stop. Give me a break." Give it a break. You'll find that if you over do things too much, too often, you'll end up paying for it later. Regular exercise is really important, but take it easy.
