shoulder blade pain

Some days it feels like it is going straight thru to the front like my upper chest cavity.

What do you all seasoned vets do to combat the pain? I'm at work so its not like I can take

my percocet. Just use my buckweat sack and hope for the best?

I get horrible shoulder blade pain only with mine its a deep searing pain and can last for hours or days. All I know is I never had it before the fibro but heat is my best friend on this topic. Take care......

Heat works for me also. In addition, I do gentle stretching exercises on the should daily.

I do stretches that are in the Fibro 101 thread.  They have helped me a lot.  But, there is a part of my back, right under the shoulder blades, that the stretches don't reach.  I talked to my massage therapist about that and she gave me this good advice.  Slightly bend forward and then start swinging your arms back and forth, side to side, in circles, etc.  It stretches those muscles and makes them feel better.  Hope this helps!

my experience with shoulder pain is exactly as Karen has described- deep searing pain that burns. i use a topical cream, dont know if they have it where you are (im in australia) and its called 'Pain Away'. its really hot but it does a great job of relieving the pain and tension.

I have had that same thing on both sides, much worse on the left side. There were days when I would have sworn there was a hole the size of a half-dollar burning from my back straight through my lung. It got so bad that I had to have a massage therapist work on it for several weeks. I am happy to say that she kicked the snot out of it! And I have stretches that I use regularly to help keep it from knotting up again.

My shoulder blades are a major source of pain. It feels like the muscles are pulling in different directions and will pull them out of place sometimes. I haven't taken the time for a massage for awhile but she can work for an hour just on my shoulder blades. I have my DH, that knows nothing about massaging, to take his fingertips and go in circles on my shoulder blades and it feels so good and relieves some of the pain for awhile. Stretching feels good and so does my massage showerhead beating on them. Also you can put a tennis ball in a long sock and put it behind you on a wall and roll it around on your shoulder blades.
