So, I get the flu every year...never really think to get a flu shot, Im just like whatever...

I got sick last Wednesday and thought it was a reaction to giving blood, but it changed(the symptoms) and it started seeming like the flu: headache, hurting all over, then I got a fever. But, THEN on another day I felt fine throughout the day but that night I felt horrible. Couldnt move and I was SO unbelievably dizzy and messed up! BUT then, the symptoms continued to change. My mom made a comment that she hadnt heard of someone having the flu and not having a sore throat or congestion/cough or anything....WELL

The next day I started coughing! Oh my goodness! What a crazy rollarcoaster! My symptoms change day to day and my temp goes UP and DOWN! lol confused

So, I broke down and went to the doctor today... turns out (according to him) I have bronchitis, an extra viral infection, a very low blood count, and Im anemic... Soooo.....I got a shot.

Shots solve everything! (sarcastic!) And some other goodies(medicines)...and I get to go back and have my blood tested to make sure my blood is going back up! Wonderful!

lol So, I just felt like venting some! Do you all get sick more in the winter? Seems like theres always something going around. Especially at school. Stomach viruses, the flu, strep, mono...... ughh! lol

I guess I'm like everyone else, I hate to get a cold or the flu or whatever.  My husband is constantly bringing home something, and then kindly gives it to me.  Well, this year I put him on a zinc supplement as well as the vitamin C we have taken for years.  Guess what!  So far he hasn't brought home any ailments at all and has usually been sick at least twice by now.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues this way.

I haven't had a cold or the flu in about a decade!  It's because I get the flu shot every year without fail!!  Welcome aboard!

Christi, I refuse to talk about this subject or I will be struck with the worse case of flu ever, hehehe. devil   I hope the worse is over and your blood count gets back to normal.

Well, I was doing homework on the couch watching the peoples choice awards and I felt like i was sort of sweating, but my face and whole body were cold. I was super curious, as usual, and went and took my temp...

It was strange because the last 5 days I've gotten used to seeing it shoot right up and over 100... but this time it was struggling through the 95's... it ended at like 96.5 I think... My normal is usually around 97.6 though... So, I waited about 15 minutes or so and did it again. I was stunned to see it fighting to get through the 94 points! It ended at a whopping 95.7! I've never seen it this low so I took it and showed it to my dad! lol

So, I would assume its only because of my low blood count. I went to school to get my brother and went and sat with my good teacher/friend. She said my color didnt look good at all. Well, I can see that now! I looked in the mirror and my face was solid white(normally I have super rosie cheeks!) and my eyes are almost a sunken purple-ish-ness!! lol Like, oh my goodness, its so weird! Im okay, dont get me wrong, I'll be fine!

Im in good spirits, even if I probably wont feel great still! But, I still know that Im going to be okay! So...anyways, I just thought it was weird, at least it is for me...this has never happened to me before, and being the "future" doctor that I am(!), everything fascinates me!! lol

My simple Lyme test was negative, no shock there. I talked to the lab tech and she is going to order the kit from iGenex for me and when my dad gets the money, Im going to be tested by them. He says its worth $200 to know one way or the other if I have it or not... I suppose thats true. I just hate making him pay for everything. He doesnt make that much so I know its hard for him to keep up with bills, groceries, and all 3 of us kids.... Im the most expensive since he pays for my car and insurance. Snack money and lunch money for school. And he's about to have to pay for my Calculus class, so that I also recieve college credit for it...

I dont have a job, but right now that may be a good thing when I fill out the FAFSA to recieve money for college. Im also working really hard to try to recieve an excellent scholarship that after my other money, would pay for tuition, room and board, meal plan, books, fees, and any other supplies I need for school! Thats awesome to me and I would be SO SO SO grateful to recieve it. It requires a lot of work if I do though.

I would have to go to tutoring to maintain my GPA. Go to counseling(i thin the scholarship has alot to do with kids who have went thru stuff but have not used it as an excuse to drop education but to instead push forward), also different conferences and such, and required volunteer work, and work study program. It wont be easy, but it would be 100% worth it for me! Its the perfect opportunity that I have always dreamed of recieving, thats for sure...

As a plus, it would help my parents out a lot.... So.... how did I get from Lyme Disease to college! lol

I have been sick for over a week now. I went to the doctor Wednesday and he said bronchitis, viral infection, low blood, anemia. He gave me medicine and I have taken it. Thursday rather than a fever of 101...it went as low as 94.5...

I went to school thursday and friday and it didnt take long before I was exhausted. Im really lost with my work because I missed a couple days, and then I really couldnt concentrate the other days so...

But, I had a fever when I woke up this morning, thats 8 days straight. My mom wants me to go back because we are sure there is something else wrong with me. I havent had an appetite since last Wednesday so I havent actually eaten a meal since then. But, I did eat a little today, more than any other day! Nothing tastes good so..

I've been having a dry mouth and throat and have been SUPER thirsty. So, my mom was sure I was dehydrated. I have been drinking lots of fluids since then. I bought a TON of gatorade to quench my thirst! lol Its the only thing that helps!

So, Im really not sure what is wrong with me. Its very weird and unlike anything we've ever seen. Lets just pray that it goes away on its own, and soon.

Btw, yesterday we received our graduation invitations and our name cards... it was SO sad. The invites are really nice, but its so crazy to think that Im about to be graduating.... shakehead

Well, I havent been on so, I hope this explains why. Have a good weekend and take care everyone!

Hi Christi,

It is good to hear from you but I am sorry that you still are sick. I have bronchitis too. I got a steroid pack, antibiotics and some cough syrup with codiene in it. Yuck, it tastes bad, but helps at night. That is when I seem to be the worst.

I hope that you get to feeling better soon. I hope that I do too. My husband has it also. And we got flu shots, but I guess bronchitis isn't the flu.

Keep the fluids in you, I am too.

Im sorry your sick Karen...its that time of year for sure! I have some kind of meds for the viral infection, some cough syrup....actually its lortab...i believe.... and i got a shot, but none of it has helped.

I have been laying on the couch ALL day today. I have like moved into our livingroom! lol I just make myself at home! But, my mom wants me to go back to the doctor, she believes something else is wrong..because none of us have ever been this sick for so long... I agree with her. I cant be missing school and Im already so lost in calculus and we have a test Tuesday... Its horrible...

Im starting to think I have mono or something... I am going to ask to be tested. But, I have had SO many symptoms its unbelievable! My symptoms come and go and change. And they seem to be different everyday! The only thing that stays the same is how tired I am and how yucky I feel. My temp gos as high as 102 and as low as 94.5. Sometimes I dont feel so bad, other times I feel like Im dying!

Its so weird. Unlike anything I've ever experienced. And my mom thinks im dehydrated because my mouth stays dry and sometimes I have this overwhelming thirst. I stay SO thirsty.... I dont know, but what else can go wrong!

I just cant keep missing school because of whatever this is.. I have no idea how to do the work and Im getting behind. My teachers know that I am pushing myself too hard. They know Im sick and keep telling me to take it easy, but thats not possible...

It would be great if I could be home-bound. Thats where someone brings my work home to me and I do it and they take it back. That way Im not missing anything. I could use that for a week or two... So that I can rest up some. When I come home from school, I hit the couch with my cover and go straight to sleep. Im just so exhausted from simply moving....

So, I dont know what this is, but Im going to find out!! Take care and I hope you and your husband feel better soon!

Hi Christi...like the others have said, this flu that is going around is really nasty and takes forever to go away...like a month.  It is a horrible strain with all kinds of symptoms.  But maybe you should go back to the doc and be tested for mono or Epstein Barr...my son got that in his last semester of college and it can be treated quickly.  I'm sorry you feel so badly and get to the bottom of this soon.

Drink plenty of water!

I went back to the doctor yesterday...goodness I had to wait long enough for another doctor to say I have a viral infection and theres nothing they can do about it....

All I can do is sleep and drink tons of gatorade! Also, my blood levels were just a little bit better, but still way low. And Im still anemic, so Im supposed to work on both of those.

He said when I get my blood all fixed I will be feeling a lot better! So, theres hope! Yay! lol Take Care

Hi, Christi!  I hope you are feeling a little better.  My body temperature can run between 97 and 100 and not be sick!  I didn't realize that your temperature can fluctuate like that, but it does.  So, don't be too concerned about it.  If it gets over 100 then  you definitely have a fever.

 

I'm anemic too.  I take Ferro Sequels for it.  It's an iron tablet that doesn't cause cramping...like some iron pills can.  These are a little more expensive but since I have Crohn's I don't need anything to  cause cramping. 

 

I guess it is common for fibromites to be anemic!  I didn't know that.  Here is a link about anemia.  Hope this helps you and helps you not to worry that much.  It's good that you are being checked out and drinking Gatorade is the best to keep you hydrated!  Good girl!
