about a year or more ago, I got new glasses.  I remember the lady saying that she had to check the right lens before I could pick them up.  Well I noticed that the first time I cleaned them, there was like a little air bubble in the lens (I have bifocals), but it would rub out. 

That went on for a long time, and I know that I should have carried them back.  But I wanted to be able to see good and didn't want to give them back to repair.  Besides it rubbed out.

Well all of a sudden I think condensation got into them and there is a fogged up spot there that I can't see through.  I want to take them back now, people say that they should fix them for free.  But it has been over a year since I bought them.

Any ideas or advice?  Do you think that they should replace that lens, even though I waited to bring it in.  I have been wearing four year old glasses to see by.  They aren't really the right ones for me at this time.

Do you have any coatings on your lenses, like UV or anti reflective? It sounds like the coating may have bubbled up. It's worth a try to return them. It sounds like a defect but since you have waited so long, they may not do anything. They may end up offering you a replacement lens at a discount.

They are transition lenses. I guess that would be a coating. Even one lens at a different price would be good. They were so expensive to get when I got them.

Karen, I would think they should be covered. Even though the bubble disappeared, it could have been one of the signs that they were defective. I figure that if you take them in, and they check it out, it will be the coating they put on, and they really should replace it free of charge. It will help if it's the regular store you and John get your eyewear. Hopefully you still have the receipt. Good chance that you are not the first that has had this problem.

They must be defective, Karen.  My glasses are not Transition ones.  I have a special coating put on them.  If the lens was made properly, this should never have happened.  If they don't correct it for you for free, I'd contact the company and let them know what is going on.

 

I don't use a large chain to get my glasses.  I had a pair of glasses for over a year and when I was on a trip, I took my glasses off to look at something in a jewelry case.  Meanwhile someone knocked my glasses off the case and stepped on them!  They were broken in two at the nose piece!  I took them back, explained what happened, and they gave me a whole new frame for free...a $200 frame, no less.  So, I think this should be covered.  When you go to the store, ask to speak with the manager.

I would definetly return them but hey hubby says I would return chewed gum if I could.

I'd at least go in and ask,the worse they can say is no.Something makes me think though that after a year,they may not cover it. confused
