Hi folks, I haven't been in the forum for a while, but I am back because of a severe pelvic pain that started last week on a Monday night. Thought it was gas ( ) but by Wednesday if I had not gotten in to see my doc (MD/OD) I would have gone to the hospital. The pain was very much like the diverticulitis I had a year and a half ago. And similar to recovery from my hysterectomy almost 3 years ago. And similar to pain I had to see many specialists for back in the 04-05 time frame (before I finally got an OBGYN to do a laparoscopy and he found endo and CPID and adesions, etc). I have been diagnosed with FMS but since my hyst, have not had severe pelvic pain (just everywhere else!)
My doc thought diverticulitis or even appendix, sent me for a CT scan, with negative results. Blood test did not show elevated white cell count, so infection did not seem to be there, but I was put on Bactrim before the tests and told to finish it. MCV values where high (no kidding, since I cannot afford the B-12 injections since about 6 months ago).
Saw a surgeon yesterday by direction of my doc and he also could not come up with a firm diagnois. I am improving since last week and taking Bactrim, so he thinks it could be a GI tract infection. If it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks he will line up other tests, thinks it could be ulcerative colitis, Crohns Disease, or some other not-so-good diagnosis.
Now to my question: I know pelvic pain can be a symptom of FMS, and I am looking for others experiences with this type of pain and knowing it is FMS vs. something else. Do we just say it is FMS if all tests for everything else come back negative?
I am very frustrated and getting depressed because I don't want a repeat of the nightmare round of specialists I went through for over a year before my laparoscopy and eventual hysterectomy. That was a horrible time. If I can accept that it's either an infection that will clear up or a new flare up of different FMS pain I can get past the frustration and depression. I am not convinced of either and would appreciate hearing from others with pelvic pain due to FMS.
