MRI for my lower back, Anyone know why?

My doc ordered an MRI for my lower back, saying there could be something wrong with it that he can fix all my pain. I wasn't really paying attention to be honest, does anyone know what this is about. I don't know why my lower back could be connected to all my pain issues. Just wondered if anyone knew????

Also I am starting gabapentin, has anyone had any luck with this? I really want off the oxycotin. I feel like a drug addict taking it.

He's probably looking for a bad disk or some slippage.I told them I had groin pain,and they ordered an MRI of my lower back.It was a waste of money,because it came back normal,(no kidding).Unless you have a back injury their,its useless. My sister takes gambupenton(sp),and has had some success with it,she has King's Box disease.Its for nerve damage and such.

Amber Jo - call your doctor's office and ask them what the purpose of the MRI is - tell them you need it to document your files.

I am getting started on Gabapentin, up to 900 mg each night. Is it helping? Maybe. I also take Ultram for pain. I'm in a flare that started with a change of seasons during September and have been out of work since October.
