Coming off meds

I am going to start coming off my Lyrica after 14 months of being on it. I am curious if I am going to see a difference, and if so, how much of a difference. I cant even tell now, but it might just be because I dont remember how I used to feel...if I get worse I will probably go back on it so...

I went off Lyrica after 6 months and didn't notice a difference. Hopefully you won't have a problem although you have been taking it longer than I did. I think all people react differently and it also depends on what other meds you are on.

I stopped because I was gaining too much weight and the weight was hurting me more than the Lyrica was helping. (hope that makes sense!)

When I posted earlier, I should have made it clear that I went off Lyrica by my doctors instructions. Chartreux is right, you wouldn't want to go off by yourself. There are too many complications and risks after taking something for so long!

Just wanted to clear that up. I wouldn't want anyone to think it was alright to just go off a med. It is always important to go thru your doctor so he can monitor how you are doing.

Yes, of course, my doctor knows. I called and asked, he gave me instructions on how to taper off.

I have decided to come off of them to see if there is any difference in how I feel. If it gets worse then I will go back on it, if not then its one less thing to take.

I havent started yet though so... later this weekend probably.

I could really feel the withdrawal when I skipped the first dose...but after a few days it isnt that bad anymore. Im taking it once a day instead of twice and in a week I will go down to every other day and then quit after that. I feel like Im hurting just a little more, but probably because I've been doing alot lately. Otherwise, I really dont feel any different other than the withdrawal affects that I feel.

I suppose its going very smoothly considering how long I've been taking it. I suppose Im somewhat lucky. Lets hope that I am not worse off the med, I'd prefer just getting rid of them for a while. Im really not even sure who I am anymore.

Tennis, it does sound like things are moving smoothly for you and I'm really happy about that!  I don't blame you for wanting to get off some meds.  I try hard to not take anything I don't have to and I have been able to change my lifestyle to eliminate some medications, too.  I know that's not something possible with fibro but you are young.  Take really good care of yourself and eat properly and that will help how you feel overall.

 

Be sure to keep up posted on how you are doing.  I really care.
