Dawn Hand renewal dishwashing liquid.  'Guaranteed to improve the look and feel of your hands in five uses.'  Oh really?  My pitiful fibro hands still look like prunes, blotchy and I can scrape the skin off with my fingernails...which, by the way, look like I tried to crawl my way up the side of a cement wall.  Why do we always fall for this stuff???

Maybe if you're twenty years old you would notice a difference.  Think I'll just put all the dishes on the floor and let the dogs do them! idea

You're a pip, Donna!!  ( I don't know what the heck a pip is.. but I think it's a good thing!! )

Well obvisously you're still young enough to fall for that stuff.. LOL!!!  My hands have been a pitiful sight for - like - everrrrrr.  I was a hairdresser for 25 years, after my first year of dunking my hands in every corrosive (sp?) chemical known to man-kind they were already shot.  To top it all off now I'm allergic to everything that has the slightest hint of fragrance.  If you want to know what a million year old's hands would look... get a glimps of these mitts!!  Not pretty!! shakehead  

I'm with you... my dogs do a wonderful job on the dishes, LOL.. I've got an idea, idea let's start our own.. we can call it... "Dawg, Dishwashing Detergent!!"

I know what you mean, I hate the commercials for anti-aging skin care.  Like we don't know the model is 17 & has never had a wrinkle to worry about except in her clothes.  My other pet peeve is the commercial for Lyrica.  You take this pill for Fibro & you get your life back.  No wonder no one thinks we are sick.  Sheesh!!!!  Hugs, Denise

I'm with you Denise, I hate those commercials for anti-wrinkle cream where the woman says that no one can guess her real age and at the end says "By the way, I'm 43." 43 my butt! And if, by some miracle, she is 43, then she has either had extensive plastic surgery or is extremely airbrushed (or both). It can't be realistic b/c I'm only 24 and even I have more wrinkles than that woman...and I've been using that darn anti-wrinkle cream for a year now! There's probably a disclaimer that says:
*Cream works best if applied daily after you've recovered from liposuction and a face lift. Do not apply directly after botox treatments.

On the hand cream side of things, I got this stuff from Bath and Body Works w/ paraffin in it and it really works wonders!

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies......Suckers, aren't we all? LOL. I never can afford anything that is "anti-aging" so the cosmetic industry can't make much off me.

I splurge on night cream for my face, that's about it. Oh, except I love my Bath & Body Works lotions for the rest of my bod.

Donna, Thanx for the warning about the dishwashing liquid being not all that it "says" it is, in case I come across a coupon and can get for less than a dollar I won't bother.

When I do dishes, I have to wear gloves. I usually get detergent from $ store. I have a hard time w/ most soaps and lotions, Olay soap, Pantene shampoo, Summer's Eve sensitive. But for some reason, I am able to use the shower gel or lotions from Bath and Body Works. I love that store, especially when they have their great sales in Jan and July. I stock up. yeah I still can't have the sprays, that is too intense for me, but I can do the rub on stuff. I have no stock in that store, it's just I love the product. Hope that isn't a problem.

It's not a problem to toot the horn for a product that works, (unless you own the company tongue) I love their stuff, too. Doesn't seem to give me rashes or headaches like so many other products and they change the fragrances often enough that I don't get sick of them.

One of our fibro guys found out a while back that the magnesium in epsom salts can be absorbed through the skin and help with dry skin problems. If you put it in your dishwater it would soften the water and maybe help your skin at the same time. The water softening properties would help clean the dishes easier, too, I bet. We've been using epsom salts in the grandbaby's bath water since we learned this and her ultra sensitive skin has become all peaches and cream. This in itself is a small miracle since her daddy is a redhead and her mommy was a toehead. She is ultra fair and burns if she thinks about sunlight. Since she has been teething her little bum is red every other day.

Anyway, I've actually found that I can use the baby products from my granddaughter and they don't bother my skin like so many 'adult' products do. They feel lighter and work very well.

Jeannie, what a great idea with the Epsom salts. I bathe in it several times a week and have really noticed the difference in my skin, why not the dishes. WOW!!! I do use Aveeno products for babies BUT b/c they have far less junk added. They work great.

I must look younger because I hang around with young people at school. I actually told them I adopted my daughters when they were 10 and the students believed me (until I told them I was lying). Actually, I use neutrogena 35 spf sunscreen every single day instead of moisturizer. Awesome stuff. But usually by this time of the semester I have bags under my eyes and my skin is sallow and when people find out how old I am they no longer say, "Oh REALLY???!!! NO Way!!!" and start saying "Oh." ha ha ha

I so want to thank those of you that brought up Bath and Body Works, I finally kicked the addiction and now you have me wanting to go shopping. devil I use to have a large wicker basket in my bathroom full of stuff from there.

 

I do not like the lyrica commercials either. I know they are selling their product but it leaves so much out about fibro. Just take your lyrica and you will feel like a new person, yeah right.

 

I don't do dishes but I do use Dawn to wash my hands with when I'm in the kitchen, perhaps I should put something milder in there. I'm sure I could find something at Bath and Body Works. LOL

Maybe I can use my left over magnesium/malic acid pills in my baths. It doesn't help my pain and I have lots left over. Hmmm...

I 'saw' my brain float by in the fog LOL. I meant to say I can use the Olay, Pantene, and Summer's Eve w/o a problem. But I do love the stuff at B&BW! I think we should all go on a field trip to B&BW, we deserve to have something nice to wash our delicate little bodies with and to smear over our sore and aching parts.

The first time I ever tried the products was during Teacher Appreciation Week at the school were I worked. They gave us a complete 'goodie bag'. I was hooked. My DD and I like to go to the store and 'sniff' all the scents. She has ones she likes and I have some favs. We have gotten each other gift cards for the place, then of course we have a girl's day out to sniff and buy.

Another haunt of ours is Pier 1, we love to check out the candles. Haven't been there in awhile. I have a collection in my china cabinet. Sometimes when I've had a really horrible day or 10, I grab some of my fav candles and inhale deeply. I love the ones for the ocean and a few others.

I would never want to lead any one astray, Marlee, but you can go to B&BW and have all those wonderful smells and sensations come home w/ you again. The wicker basket is feeling really lonely right now. So sad.

I went to a rheumy last month and she asked if I ever took Lyrica, (I have 2x, both times not helpful) I thought she was going to suggest again. She said she was so disappointed in the results, some patients used it and it was not that great. All the patients are off it. I have had some family tell me about Lyrica, like it is THE answer. 'Did I ever hear of it?' Told how it would be just the thing. Yeah! Not.

Let me know when we are going to shop, maybe we can p/u some things for Sherrine as a house gift. We can even get her a wicker basket to hold the bottles. It's the least we can do after we all pile in on her, I mean visit her.  God bless.  Alice.

My Rhuemy about laughed himself off the chair when I mentioned Lyrica.  He has never had a patient that it has helped and the side effects are dreadful...a least according to him.  I see on this forum that some do get relief and that's a blessing for those it helps.  It's the same for Mirapex and RLS.  He wouldn't suggest me taking that either.  Fibromites are so sensitive to drugs and I guess he thinks the side effects are worse than the disease.

yeah...those women in the Lyrica commercials are a riot.  I've said it before...they should stick those actors arms and legs in a beehive, then shoot the commercial.
