Visit with Pain Mgmt Doc-Trigger Point Injections

I went to my pain mgmt Dr the other day. He gave me 4 trigger point injections in my back. Still a bit sore today, but the pain is much better. He also took blood to test for lupus and other muscular diseases. He said they were typical Fibro blood tests. I've never had those before.

Does anyone have experience w/trigger point injections? Have they worked and how many sessions did you have to get?

Hi P-Fit,

I am new to the forum as of today, but I have been getting trigger point injections for the past several months. At first they did not work for very long but the last couple of times they have really made me feel better. Of course they are just a temporary fix and I do know that.. but any help is better than none. I can actually touch the areas where the injections were done and the pain is significantly lower.. just hang in there if the pain comes back shortly, they will last longer as time goes by..

Thanks. I've been feeling ok considering the stress I've been under lately. The Dr said all my blood work came back ok and he is now leaning toward myofacial pain syndrome and away from fibro. I'm a bit confused by that, but I guess it's ok. He isn;t adding to my med list (thank Goodness) so I'll continue seeing the Chiropractor, doing some light exericse and getting massage. If I flare up again he told me to come back for more trigger point injections.
