Aww.. Lee Ann,
I'm with Karen & Marlee. I'm a smoker too and I'd love to quit, I try all the time and I can't ever get past a week. I've tried pills, natural supplements, a thing-a-hoo-ha in my ear, you name it, I've tried it. After a week I go nut-zo. I wind up having a major anxiety attack and everyone in my life shoves a cigarette in my mouth. Karen's advice on thinking about and focusing on the act of smoking is a good one.
I also think its a good idea just to leave the debit/credit card at home, just bring cash you can spend when you go shopping. In this economy we all have to be extremely careful. I can see how seducing gambling and/or winning the lottery can be. I won $1100.00 once playing roulette, I could have sat there and kept playing forever if my ex husband hadn't come along and dragged me out of there. Last week I went to a Casino with my mom & sister and blew $150.00 that I don't have, but that's the first time I've been in a Casino in about 5 years. I play the lottery now and then, but I don't think I spend more than $50.00 a year on tickets.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm here for ya when you need support. Don't beat your self up too bad, just try to be aware of your feelings right now when you think about the changes you want to make in your life and hopefully you can be on the road to recovery.
Warm hugs,
