Does Daylight Savings Time Mess With Your Sleep?

OK, So.. we moved our clocks forward over the weekend.  And the theory is that we lose an hour of sleep.

 

Well I don't know if its psychological or what, but.. Saturday and Sunday night I couldn't get to sleep to save my life.  I usually go to bed around 9:30 and shut off the lights to go to sleep at 10:00.  (I'm a firm believer in good sleep hygene).  Sat. night I couldn't get to sleep till long after midnight and last night I was up till about 11:30. I finally got out of bed and had a glass of milk about 11:00 but couldn't get to sleep till after 11:30.  This morning.. not so good, I woke up at about 6:30 and have been up ever since.

 

I have a plumber coming sometime this morning so a nap is completely out for the day.

Hi Patti, I don't know if it's pyschological or not but I "feel" screwed up already from the time change! I have been up since 6:00 and went to bed at midnight- Could not get tired till then. mad  

May your plumber come early and you get to get a nap in!

Me too! I"m having a heck of a time adjusting.  My sleep the last 2 nights is awful. I also feel "messed up".

 

Patti, put some earplugs in and let the plumber work while you nap! Hehe...

Well let me just say Monday is my day off no kids no work no hubby, This is the day I try to do my house work. I am so sleepy and have alot of stuff to do and cant seem to get it done. I kow the dogs are all messed up with the time change when we got up at 6am they looked at me like I was crazy.

I am so off of my sleep. Just starting a sleep schedule then having clocks change is hellish right now. I can not get going today. I have aqua therapy in a bit. I am so hoping that can help a bit. I am a bundle of horrid tight nerves and soooooo dragging. Later all!

one of my boys is a doctor and he told us it takes our body rhythms one week to adjust to the time changes. Not sure if he's right or not, but I would imagine those with sleep disturbances don't need much to mess with our sleep patterns.
Saturday night, it was storming here and one of my dogs is terrified of thunder, so I slept on the couch with him, he was just more secure with me there than in bed and I was up every 1/2 hour or so with him pacing and me wondering what time it was. I'm still tired!

Well, I take Trazodone to help me sleep, but I do sort of feel like the daylight savings time has screwed with me a little. I hate it when we have to change the clocks. It throws me off for a while. I know it will get better, but for at least a week, it will mess with my internal clock.

My sleep patterns are so irregular that I don't think an hr one way or the other on the clock is making a whit of difference for me. If I get any sleep at all at any time I consider myself lucky. Of course, I don't go to bed, or get up by the clock anyway so I'm sure that makes a difference.

I definately feel like I lost an hour of sleep and will feel this way for a while. I just know it. I hope that you can catch up on your sleep.

OK.. now I'm really P.O.'d... Its almost 3:00 and that ^&@!*# plumber never showed up.  I didn't want to get in the shower earlier because I just knew if I did he'd show up.. But NOOOOOOO... shocked Geez Oh Pete!!  I haven't gotten a thing done today because I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything with him coming.  I needed to get a few things at the grocery store, but didn't because I was expecting him.  OH Well, I guess hubby and I can have soup and sandwiches for dinner.

Remind me never to call this jerk again!!! 

(now ya know as soon as I get done typing this he'll show up and make a liar out of me, Murphy's Law)

All I really wanted to do today was take a little nap... btw, I try NOT to ever take naps because it messes up my sleep cycle, but today I wanted to give in.  So now I'm feeling grungey AND tired!!!  shakehead GUMBLE!!!!!

OK.. I vented.. thanks for listening.  I feel better now, but I still have a plumbing problem!!

Hi Patti,

In my world the "plumber" never comes. I swear every time I have someone scheduled it takes the entire day to get them here. And don't you just love the 4 hour window cable and half the world give ya!!!! Yeah, in Florida being on time is out the window. I say the sun fries their brains!!!

Now I am fascinated that one little hour does this to us. When you think about it, isn't it strange. I woke up extra early b/c I was afraid I wouldn't adjust to the change and we have to be up very early for our business. Also it was dark here until well after 7 this morning. I love the daylight in the evening but for me I am all a morning person. Up with the birds.

Has that plumber come????

Nope, he won't be here till Wednesday.. He got held up at another job.  The panda is not a happy camper.  Good thing my plumbing issue is just a minor one!!
