Hi. I have been lurking for a couple days, just reading. I have enjoyed the humor, appreciated the understanding and sympathy between you all, and have learned some things I didn't know.
I was diagnosed with fibro in 2003. I also struggle with bipolar and depression. This last year has been the first time when all my meds seem to mesh to help me, and not cause debilitating side effects. However, the "growth spurt" I experienced while trying different meds isn't going away...more pity me! March arrived, and with it the worst flare I have had since last March. Seems to be (not) my time of year.
A little about me. I am a stay at home mom of 2, a boy, 12, and a girl, 9. I owned and operated my own grooming shop for several years...until I finally had to admit that working and caring for a family was too much. I bred poodles for a short time. I still own one, and if I have a dog at all, it will always be a poodle.
Of course there is a cat in residence, despite allergies! My husband is very understanding and special. So I would have to say that there is more good than bad in my life.
I look forward to participating in this group.

Welcome Poodles (Vickie),

I am the proud owner of a silver standard pup. He is my second, my first white standard lived to 15 1/2 and was absolutely amazing. This fellow is still young but coming along well. They are such wonderful pets. Is yours a standard? Wish I knew how to groom him. He has a mane that is beautiful which is a trademark of his breeder. His grandfather was at Westminster but this guy looks at me and says "I am not my grandpappy, just a rough neck".

Sorry to hear you are having a rough go. I am too so maybe it is a March thing.

I am semi-retired, still help my husband some in our seafood co. but mostly stay at home. I just love this time in my life to do all the things I always said I would. AND yes I am even with Fibro. I have had it about a year and a half now and trying so hard not to let it run me. The hardest part for me is that I have let it socially isolate me b/c most of my friends were in my favorite sport in the world, tennis!!!

You already know we are a great group that helps one another.

Hello poodles, love the name. My sister is a dog lover, she has 3 dogs. Glad you joined. I also have a wonderful and very understanding husband. It takes a special person to live with and support someone with this kind of health problems. I feel that God picked him special just for me and I give him all the praises for my wonderful man.

No, Michael isn't a standard, although he has some standard in his pedigree. He is about 16.5 inches at the shoulder, and a mere 15lbs. However, he has a beautiful grandson that is 18.5 inches, and about 65lbs! He is only 7 months, so I wander how much bigger he will get!
Grooming was easy and fun to me. I guess I had a knack. But it made my hands and arms hurt, and made me sooooo tired. So now I just groom Michael...about 2 times a year.lol

Poodles, he's 65 pounds at 7 months!!! That reminds me of the European standards that went 80 pounds.

Maestro is 65 pounds on the button but he is 1 1/2!! Meant to tell you that my former standard, Monet, was a nursing home pet visitor for many many years. He was an inspiration to so many elderly. If I missed a week b/c of traveling or something they were crestfallen. I retired him at 11 b/c he could no longer take the rubbing and tension. He lived to be 15 1/2 and had a courageous grand life. NOW this fellow is still pretty mouthy but I am determined to train him too. He is getting better, perhaps by 2 we can start.

What color is Michael?

Welcome! Sorry you are going through a rough time right now. March can be a difficult month, expecially those with allergies as well. Here it is flea season so I don't look forward to March.

I have two German Shepherds that let me live with them. They are a blast. They weigh 85 and 100 pounds respectively. They are wonderful friends and give me a lot of humor in my life. But they can also be pests too. Still I am happy they are here.

Keep posting and letting us get to know you better. I love this forum very much and find this group one of the most caring and giving of Healing Well.

Hi, Vickie, and welcome!  I'm so glad you decided to join in.  We do have a great group here that love to help one another and really do care about each other, too.

Since your fibro seems to hit you in the spring, it could be all of the barometric changes that happen this time of year.  My worst time is in the summer because I live in Florida and we have our stormy weather in the summer and a lot of rain, too.  The barometric pressure...when it heads down...usually does me in, too.  But it does get better.

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibromyalgia.  You can learn a lot from that thread.

Again, welcome!  Read back posts and ask questions.  We are here to help you.  Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Vicki and welcome!!

Wonderful to have you as part of our family! Many of us have certain times of the year that are harder and it's often associated with weather/seasons. Maybe you too? I've begun to wonder if low light bothers me in winter since I live in a northern state. Guess I need to talk to doc about it or just get more light. But I would have to remember first...lol

Anyway, come join our Koffee Klatch we have daily. It's a great time to chat about anything but pain. We certainly do need some laughter in our lives.
