Just out of curiousity, i was wondering... can someone have both FM and CFS? I thought it was that you just have one or the other, but a friend of mine (the only other person that I know personally with FM) says her doctor diagnosed her with both. How is that possible?

Rache, yes, you can have both. Actually, some doctors think they are one and the same illness.

I was diagnosed with both in Dec of 08. I was totally suprised. I had convinced myself that it was rh. arthr. I just turned 42 this month and I teach 1st grade.

Hey Rache,
In 1999 I was dx'd with CFS then in 09 I was dx'd with FMS.. Dr thinks it was FMS the whole time.. I don't know. I just know I've felt this way for-e-v-e-r-r-r-.
So, either, I have one or the other or both, it was brought on by my Lyme Disease. My Lyme episodes started in 1995. Either way I think they are treated pretty much the same way.
Hi Stang!! Yikes a room full of 1st graders and FMS... you're like my hero!!! :)

I have been diagnosed with both. My docs seem to think that both fit since so many of my symptoms are common for both. I also have symptoms that are strictly FM and others that are CFS.

I was diagnosed with both. I can often tell the which one is flaring according to how I feel. It is definitely possible. Both illnesses cause pain and exhaustion, just different types and
locations.
