A question for the breadwinners

What did you do between getting a diagnosis and stopping working, and getting disability? Did it take a long time? What kind of insurance is there for a family if the breadwinner is disabled?

Background: My husband has always been the breadwinner of our family. I used to work at quick stop kinda stores, a market one time, and ended up having my own dog grooming business for several years. I have 2 kids ages 12 and 10, and I had to quit and "just" be a mother.

My husband has been dealing with debilitating pain and other symptoms for a long while now. He is always exhausted. I am pressuring him to go to the doctor and get a diagnosis. But he is afraid to face it because he is afraid of what is going to happen to us. I am sure he has been online learning what he can about fibro, and maybe other things that it could be.

So I thought if I had some information from others that have faced this, it might help.

I understand him not going just to get a fibro diagnosis. What good will come of it? There is no cure or any successful remedy. However, you need to appeal to his common sense in ruling out any possibility of it being something more serious. Tell him after they rule out the other possibilities that he can go back to ignoring it if he wants....
