Well, no Lupus but do have Fibro & Chronic Fatigue

Went to my doctor on Tuesday- he received the results from the lab work and stated that I do NOT have Lupus- but of course, it's the Fibromyalgia, IBS, arthritis & Chronic Fatigue that is causing the issues. Wow- how can ONE disease/disorder cause so much?? But anyway, I AM relieved! My vitamin levels were great! I've been going to the tanning bed on a regular/semi-regular basis and my vitamin D levels are GREAT! I also had an allergy test done and I'm allergic to cats, dogs, dust mites, and oak. UGH! I have a beautiful black lab who I love so much, too! He told me to make sure she is bathed often though.

Anyway, it's been wanting to rain here for over a week now but hasn't- but I can sure feel the PAIN from the humidity! My hands, legs, back, neck, everything are hurting soo bad! He gave me Tramadol about a month ago for the pain but it helps sometimes, and other times it doesn't but I don't wanna go any further than Tramadol. I'm not sure what other treatment options there are besides this but I'm scared to even find out! LOL..

Welcome, you found a good site for information. Dont be too discouraged, the pain is often worse when you are first Dx and then it slowly gets a little better and easier to live with.
Read some of the older posts, you can learn alot and find some more natural ways to soothe the pain...like heat packs ect.
Sorry cant change the weather for ya! lol But I sure hope it rains for you soon, I so know how that feels! Hang in there, at least now you know what you are dealing with!

Hi Alli and welcome. The good news is you don't have lupus. You sound like me with the fibro, IBS, arthritis and fatigue. We have had so much rain this year and the constant changing weather is so hard on us. I'm not on narcotics, partly my choice and partly cause of so many bad reactions to them. I take 4000 mg of tylenol a day, use heat, use lidoderm patches on small surface areas like my hands that have arthritis and fibro and I take 100 mg of amitriptyline at bedtime which helps the pain. I also use a TENS unit to interrupt the pain signals to the brain when I get really bad. I take xanax for anxiety but I think it helps the muscles to relax too. I try to keep moving even if the body doesn't want to, today it's not going to want to cause I way over did it yesterday so I will find things that are easier today. We all seem to have different things that work for us and a lot of it is trial and error cause what works for one doesn't work for everyone.

 

Read the fibro 101 thread, second on first page, it contains a lot of great info. Read and ask questions and we are here for you.

I've been tested for lupus a couple of times also. Fortunately, it's always been negative. Good for you too!

Hi, Alli, and welcome!  That's wonderful news that you do not have lupus!  I'm sorry you have the other problems but it seems like many on this forum have other illnesses too.  These are not necessarily caused by fibro...at least not that I know of.  But, you will learn how to control the pain and live a full and enjoyable life with fibro. 

 

I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  We have a great group of people that love to help one another and also really do care about each other, too.  I'm sure you will like it here.

hi and welcome! depending on your pain level and family history i dont understand why you and your drs. wont at least allow u a small amt. of stronger(opiate) pain relievers. i dont know if i would still be on this earth if it were not for hydrocodone. between my fibro pain and my SEVERE restless legs syndrome i would go crazy, if not for hydro. if u and ur drs. choose thie route, obviously u must open and honest and take the meds. only as prescribed. dont suffer needlessly. i wish for you a life with less pain.
