Bob Dylan Concert...Holy Moly!

So..the hubby and I and ten others went to the Dylan/Willie Nelson/ Mellencamp concert last night.  Our seats were in the first row behind the mosh pit.  Willie wasn't too bad on my ears because he sang many songs unplugged, so I didn't need to put on my fetching monster head phones.  Mellencamp was so loud the bass actually sloshed our drinks out of our cups.  So I put on the head phones.  My friends immediately started taking pictures of me on their cell phones and texted them to their children.  I didn't realize what a pin head I have until I looked at the pictures.  It was a good laugh though and I expect to see them on You Tube today.

But...seriously.  Bob Dylan should hang up his white hat and black shirt and take a nice long nap some place where someone could take his pulse every ten minutes.  "hmmmm La la dooooooo gofjedff jfidhg noooh blah."  Did you understand that?  Well...it was his first song and it lingered into infinity.  After the third so called song people started booing and yelling 'you suck'.  It was sad, really.  Then, they all started filing out of the arena...including us.  BTW...during Mellencamp we moved to the TOP of the stadium because it was so loud on the field one of our friends got an ear ache.  This meant walking up about a bazillion steps and I am paying for it today because of course, I had to use the restroom about five times which was on the ground level.

And my lovely had phones?  I had an offer for fifty dollars for them...really!  I didn't sell them but I thought about it!

All in all I had a good time being with my old friends but I won't be going to any concerts anytime too soon.  And to Bob Dylan...it's over my old friend.  Give it up and open a restaurant or something.

Can I interest anyone in Donovan tickets...LOL!

I heard an announcement on the rock station I listen to about the concert and then they played a Dylan song.  I was driving by myself and I got this huge grin on my face just picturing you sitting there with your head gear.

 

I personally think Dylan should have retired years and years ago.  I could never understand him.  He has a program on a XM station.  When we drove to Ca. from Mo. last fall my 25 year old son was with us to help with the driving.  When we drive the driver get to pick the radio station.  He likes Dylan and picked that station.   I could only understand a little of what he was saying.  Does he have marbles in his mouth?

You are right Puppy...I could never understand him but the hubby used to play with Dylan and Garica YEARS ago in the basket houses in The Village...back before they were anybody.  He has everyone of his albums and has always admired him more for his song writing than his voice, and even named our dog Dylan.  He was so disppointed I thought he was gonna cry to see how badly he has deteriorated.  Dylan doesn't have marbles in his mouth...they are rattling around in his brain.  It's sad but an outrage for what he gets for tickets.  I think it cost about $800 for all of us to go.  I guess the old die hards don't care.

Hi, Donna, there are only 2 songs I actually like by ol' BOB. My DH thinks he is so good. Of course, he hasn't seen him live so I guess he's going by his memories of times gone by.

 

He and I were talking the other day about movies and such from our childhood, how we thought they were sooo good. Then 30 yrs or more later, how disappointed we were to see how silly they actually were. You wish you hadn't seen them again, just let the happy memory linger in your head. Oh, well.

 

In Aug of '80, I heard on the local radio that one of my favorite singers was going to be at a local venue (read dive). I was never allowed to go to this place when I was single. My DH and I decided we wanted to see him so badly. We had someone watch our new baby and we went out. I was so nervous that I would be disappointed, he came out and I was just blown away. He was still so good. It was Roy Orbison. He did so many songs I loved and they were heaven. He had a big comeback several yrs later, really getting back in the groove and he died from a heart attack. I was so glad I had gotten a chance to see him. There were a few ppl I saw yrs ago, who died a bit after that and I was glad I had spent the money to see them. A few I missed and I still regret it.

 

I like a few of the 'Cougar's' songs, but not blasted at me. Willie is ok in short doses. Sue, WN did that song w/ Toby Keith a few yrs back.

 

That 'trio' is supposed to be in my neck of the woods this wk. I will avoid that show!!

 

Donna ~ can't wait to see you on youtube. But I'm glad you had a good time w/ your friends. That is really the important thing, you have some fun memories of this event. They are priceless!!!

Donna, thanks for the review! I had recently heard a similar review by a friend who saw Dylan a couple years ago, and it was a report similar to yours. I think a lot of people would agree Dylan has earned his keep by now.

Your perspective is great because I too used to go see many, many concerts - always had to be the front row and then backstage to intervew the band/musician. Now, I am at the point where if I can't sit down, I don't wanna go!! I joke about how fibro has turned me quickly into an old fogie from a rolling stone, but really, I guess it's not a very funny joke! jealous of your headgear tho. :)
