Does anyone here swim or do other things aquatic for exercise? If so, what workouts do you do?

I swim but I don't have any exercise regimen. Just moving in the water is so good. I swim the crawl, back stroke, breast stroke and side stroke and I tread water. That gets everything moving.

I swim in the summer. I go two or three times a week. I will swim a half mile to a mile depending upon how I feel. I do a hundred yards of freestyle plain, then a hundred with short fins, then a hundred yards with hand paddles, then I begin again. I am really bad about
remembering how many laps I have done so I keep a little piece of string with beads on it, at the end of my lane. I slide a bead over for each hundred yards.

I get really tired actually swimming so I will hold on to the side and kick for awhile, then tread water and move my arms. That seems to be enough for now. Hmm... maybe will go tomorrow.

I manage to make 4 laps, resting every half lap.

Yes
I do love my swimming. Since Ive gotten fibro its been much harder to swim as far as I used to. It really bugs my shoulder to to my lap swim but I'm thinking I will just have to push through.

i haven't gone yet because i seem to be lacking the motivation, but there is a hospital locally that offers aquatic therapy in the rehab center. and they don't require a co-pay it is completely covered by my insurance. i need to go this week and i need to keep it up.

I have been going to a range of motion class in a therapy pool at my gym. The water is heated to 89 degrees and feels wonderful. If I could just live my life in warm water I would be great! What I also love about
this particular class is that everyone there has pain - a lot of them are older and have osteoarthritis, a couple have RA, bad backs, knee replacements, etc. All people who understand living with pain. Everyone is so nice and supportive!

Oh goodness I do the crawl, backstroke, breast and side strokes. In addition I take deep water aerobics 2x per week and then swim after the class. Oh, I forget, a lot of dog paddling too. I stretch when forced to by the instructor. all in all I am in the water 5 - 6 days per week.
I will buy either a house or a condo during the next year or two and I hope to have some kind of pool there. that way I will only need the parks department pool for the long swims.
I began with arthritis classes that I could only get thorough half of the classes 3 years ago. Now I am addicted. I have to be in the water daily. It gives me energy, awakens me ad makes me feel better all around. I still have fibro though.

@donnaeil ... yah I'm starting to get addicted to swimming too. It's so much higher intensity and less impact than other forms of cardio.
