Hi all,

husband was prescribed lyrica for lyme disease pain and just wondering if anyone here can tell me how it's helped/or not helped them...it's a low dosage 100mg once a day...then twice a day after an week i think...he has terrible ringing in his ears and we're hoping this might provide some relief...heard about weight gain but he has lost so much weight due to nausea from meds it would be a blessing...he hasn't started taking it yet...was originally misdiagnosed with fibro...thanks much...

I hope hubby was put on the proper antibiotics first! That's the only cure for lyme, but it has to be given early.

I took it it worked great for the pain but  i swelled up and gained 8 lbs in 10 days

I have fibro and back problems so I have tried Lyrica.  Was on it for 6 wks and the blurry vision side effect did not go away plus it did not really make a difference to my conditions so I stopped.  I have not heard it for ringin in the ear but ya never know.

Lyrica works great for me.  It has taken away a lot of my pain and some of my fatigue.  I have gained about 15 lbs on it but I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER!!  The pain isn't totally gone but it is manageable now.  I went off Lyrica due to the weight gain and tried Cymbalta and Savella - they did nothing for me.  I went back on Lyrica and felt a lot better again.  I would rather have the weight gain I guess and be able to function.  I also had some nerve pain in my face that is now gone since I am on Lyrica.  I hope that it helps your husband.  It has been a huge help to me.  Good luck.

Lyrica did nothing for me. I'm hoping and praying that one of the others will work.

Lyrica is a great help to me. I am not able to take it in the am because it makes me too sleepy. So I take it all at one time at night, and it has helped my pain. Unfortunately, the sleepiness it causes doesn't help me sleep at night all by itself. Oh well, there are no miracle drugs I guess.

Lyrica didn't really help, I gained lots of weight and then started swelling on the left side only. The weight gain increased the fibro pain, put more stress on my body.

I'm on Savella now, first couple a weeks were miserable due to the nausea. now, no problem. I don't know if it will work for Lyme Disease at all though.

I couldn't get past the price tag. Even with my prescription insurance it was way too much. I tried cymbalta

for 4 days and was in even worse pain than before. I'll stick with herbals as much as possible.

I took Lyrica, which worked, but I couldn't take the weight gain. 1/2 pound a day!

I am taking the older, cheaper generic Neurontin (pregabalin) now and getting decent results with no weight gain. In fact I have been able to lose a few pounds without trying too hard. But beware of taking too much! I was started at 300mg at night, which knocked me out. I get a good night's sleep on only 100 mg. I'm supposed to be taking it 3 x day, but am even building up to this slowly. Since the stuff helps me sleep I took it only at night for a week, am now taking it at night and in the morning. I'm still sleeping, but not having trouble with being sleepy in the AM.
