I am newly diagnosed and have noticed (and read) that fibro affects approx 95% women. I am a male and would be interested in hearing from the guys. - about guy things. ...........ok, about "intimacy".

I too am one of the few males with Fibromyalgia. It is difficult finding guys with fibro, so if you have any questions, just shoot me a message.

Hi Redmoon and welcome. We do have some male members but haven't seen any of them on recently but maybe they will read this and respond.

 

In the mean time read the fibro 101 thread, second one, it contains lots of great info about fibro.

Hi Redmoon, when did you find out you had Fribro and whare is it at as far as pain goes, Ive had first had symptoms in 2000 but it realy took hold last year and on July 28th I had to guit my job and file for SSD I was approved and It starts in Feb. 2010 please email me so we can chat. I hope the Moderators will let me send you my email adderss on this reply  I also was put on a new drug and it realy helps ( baclofen ) with the pain Im still on morphine but this new stuff is great.

Ed, if you put your email address in your profile, our members can get it easily.  We don't want people putting their email out over the Internet.  Anyone can read this forum, whether they are a member or not.  That's why we have the rules we have and keep the forums "family friendly."  Someone could get your email and really cause you problems.  But, if it is in your profile, only HealingWell members will be able to see it.

 

I just checked and  you do have it in your profile so, just tell people to get it from your profile by clicking the envelope that is under your name at the side of your post.  That will keep you safe!

Redmoon, I want to welcome you to our forum.  I wish I knew why this illness affects so many women and very few men, but we do have some men here and truly enjoy their perspective. 

 

For really intimate topics, it would be best to email each other.  Sometimes they get a little too descriptive and we have kids as young as 13 on these forums so we do have to be careful.  But, if it isn't too intimate, then fire away.  We can all learn.

 

I'm so glad you found us!  Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you.  I hope to hear more from  you soon.

Keeping this totally family friendly, I can tell you that my male fibro friend takes Savella and was considering going off of it to to intimacy problems. He is the only person I know that benefited greatly from Savella, it gave him some of his life back but he wants that part of his life back too. He was ok before the Savella.

Many of the meds used to treat fibro symptoms can cause intimacy problems and sometimes, it's just the fibro.
