Hi, and welcome! I'm sorry you are going through this at such a young age but we probably can help you. I've never gone to those fibro centers because the top specialists haven't discovered what causes fibromyalgia yet. Make me wonder how certain places "know" what causes it and how to treat it. I don't think we'd need this forum if they were accurate. So, I'm waiting to hear from the doctors that have been studying it for years. I'm hoping they will come up with the cause soon and then we really can get some help.
I use ibuprofen with food and extra strength Tylenol. I also use malic acid/magnesium supplemets and vitamin D3 supplements. Many with fibro are deficient in these vitamins and nutrients and that can cause pain and fatigue. There are links in the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum. You will learn a lot about fibro there.
The joint pain may actually be fibro, too. Many of us have that. Fibro affects the muscles, tendons, and ligaments and we have those around our joints to make the fingers, etc., move. It feels like arthritis but it's actually fibro. A rheumatologist would be able to distinguish that through blood work.
Do keep a positive outlook and look forward to each new day. You will be surprised what you can do with this illness. Earlier this week I walked through the entire Magic Kingdom at DisneyWorld and that surprised the daylights out of me! Not only have I had fibro for years but I'm also 62 years old. So, try not to limit yourself.
I'm so glad you found us and joined in. Don't hesitate to ask more questions because we are here to help you. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and I hope to hear more from you soon.
