Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. My DH was finally given a room after midnight. 24 hrs in the ER, oh boy! The cardio said his heart is good, the gastro is sending him down for an endoscopy in the morning to see what is going on, and the endocrinologist told the nurses and other drs that my DH is not to have the pump turned off, that he is the one in charge of it, not them. When he had the cath last month his sugar went up over 500, I told him I had read that Prednisone raises the BG, he didn't think I meant that much. His endo told him to treat it right then. This time in the 1st hosp for the procedure, he kept track of his numbers every 2 hrs and gave the dose accordingly. It kept his numbers in a very good range. When he gets sick his sugar goes up, even if he hasn't eaten a thing. He has been told from the beginning to test and give a shot. This current dr has said the same thing. Test and insert the numbers and give that dose.
Just as I was getting ready for bed last night, my sister called me. She was ready for an arguement. She had tried to call me and I didn't answer. She had needed me to take my mother to the hospital, because she had other things to do at that point. I have never not taken my mother to the hospital or dr or anything she needed to do, but I wasn't available. My sister had to call the ambulance. My mother sat in the ER for hrs, too. I wish I had known, but I didn't. I pray for patience, I really, really do. Thankfully, my mother is in a room, but 2 floors up from my husband. They are both concerned about the other, but not allowed to leave their floors.
I spent most of my day visiting each one and taking care of 'dr stuff' for each of them. Then I came home and had to make more calls to my DH's bosses. I don't know what part of 'He's in the hospital' they don't get, but I have to call in each night. It gives me something to do in my free time.
Robin, I have never heard of that patch, do you know the name of it off hand? I always get sick from the anesthesia, even when they pre-treat me before surgery. They finally gave him Reglan, the other med didn't help at all.
Marlee, you're right, they do worry about us, just like we worry about them. I guess that's why they are 'Keepers'. We are lucky and blessed.
Sherrine, I am trying to relax. I'm almost sure I have a gene for that. Good thing my hair is white, because otherwise I would be going gray right about now.
Thank you all for your calming voices, you help me get perspective at this trying time. I hope you are all having a peaceful and pain free evening.
God bless. Alice.
