My hubby, my best friend just told me I was "too intense". Constructive criticism. He says when I'm feeling somewhat better I tend to look at the backlog and want to get everything done right now! Imagine that!
A little background-- Stressful situations are piling up on my plate. Yesterday two, yes, 2 of my adult children came to us saying they were getting a divorce. Our son's situation we knew was bad and he had been hanging in there, (20 years) Our daughter, we'd heard rumors of problems in the last couple of months to a marriage we thought was good so we were more shocked to hear of her decision (16 years). The other stress is ongoing --the overseeing of my FIL at the assisted living place. His mental and physical health is deteriating alot and we made the decision to move him to a smaller apt in the same complex. I have had to coordinate the move which will happen tomorrow. My BIL and 20 yr old granddaughter and some maintenance guys will help. I am not looking forward to this and am already stressed thinking about it. Today, I went to the eye dr for my reg. check-up but have a really red inflamation that I woke up with yesterday. Long story short, eye drops 4xday for l0 days and I need new glasses!
Can you see my muscles tensing just thinking about this and all the regular everyday things that come up? I thanked my husband for pointing out that I was too intense and I needed to calm down take a breath and realize I don't have to do everything at once. He is my best friend and only wants what is best for me. Do you tend to get "intense" when the situation gets hairy? and what do you do to talk yourself down into normalcy?
