Maybe I don't have Fibro after all? I was dx'd 9/06 by a rhemotologist, after spending a year with orhto's and neuro's. On my never-ending quest to find relief, I spoke with a co-worker who's daughter had sleep problems as a teenager. My co-worker ended up taking her to an endocrinologist who found her deficient in several areas (can't remember what) and treated her with a supplement.
After researching Endoncrinology on the internet and finding out that my sister and a grandmother have thyroid problems, I decided to visit one. I explained my fibro dx. My Dr. was open-minded an ran all kinds of tests which revealed that my testosterone is 143 when normal is 300-800. Also, insuline-like growth factor was low. My Dr. said it could be caused by the meds I am on for Fibro, but he doesn't want me to stop taking them and become overridden with pain just to see.
I posted recently about visiting my primary care Dr. and explaining how I thought my body was not healing right. Even before I was dx'd with I can think of many times during my life that my body was sore and recovery took a long time. Except during those times the pain eventually went away, not like now.
Anyway, my endo prescribed Androgel, a Testosterone gel that I put on every morning. I have to go back for follow up blood test and pituitary MRI results tomorrow. After reading about low testosterone symptoms, I think I've been low almost all my life.
So, I encourage you to visit and Endo if you haven't.
I am not suggesting that everyone who has Fibro has an endocrine imbalance, just suggesting that endocrine tests might flush out any other treatable possibilities. My symptoms are very Fibro-like: restless sleep (wake every 60-90 min), muscle/tendon/joint soreness, massive fatigue, FOG, and trigger points that feel like a being jabbed with a hot poker.
