has anyone used savella??

Hello,

Just wanting to get some feedback from anyone who has used or is using savella....I have read conflicting reviews on it.  I know every person reacts differently, but it also mentions high blood pressure and heart palp.  Any feedback good or bad would be greatly appreciated.

My husbands dr wants him to take it but still unsure about just because of the reviews we have read.

I have been taking 100 mg 2 times a day for about 6 months now and it has made a big difference in my fibro pain. I have not noticed high blood pressure but I am also on a blood thinner since my open heart surgery in Feb 2006.

If that is his only option, maybe he could take it for a short time and closely monitor his blood pressure at the same time.

You can do a search and see what has already been discussed. Hopefully, some of the current users can fill you in on their experiences. It seems like it helps some people but many have a problem with it.

I was in a clinical study for it a few years ago. I was definitely not in the placebo group. I had to drop out because it increased my blood pressure by a lot and increased my resting pulse rate to an uncomfortable level. Because I was in a study, we could not lower the dosage to see if it helped.

Most of my friends dropped out due to side effects but one friend loved it. While he still has pain and other symptoms, it gave him some of his life back. He's been able to work part time and enjoy his hobbies and family. He does have some problems with the side effects and frequently considers going off of it.

It helped my pain and fatigue a bit but didn't touch my fibrofog.

Been on Savella for about 9 months.  I am going off it because I cannot stand being hot and sweaty all the time.  Last night I woke up and my husband had the thermostat at 60!  I was in bed with nothing on and no covers and was still warm!  this is worse than hot flashes - it is all day long - fan on - fan off - sweater on - sweater off - every five minutes it seems.  Sometimes I get so warm I am nauseous!

 

Was on Cymbalta for over a year prior to Savella and research tells me that increased sweating is a common side effect for both.

I was on Savella for a short time and had to stop because it increased my resting heart rate to 115. My heart is sensitive and if a medicine says it can affect heart rate or pvc's on me it will.

I would try it though. What if your husband is one of the lucky ones and gets relief?
