Hi! I'm new just now. Boy I never thought I'd say that at 56, HA!!
I have had fibro for over 30 years. I have nobody who really understands. My husbands answer is to put as much distance between us as possible, so no physical contact. It gets lonely.

OK enough poor me stuff. I am a fairly happy person for the most part. I don't work, I have a little store on line, that keeps me busy as I make all of the craft items. I love it. I have taken up swimming to try to make my legs stronger, but I love it all the time in water, no pain and
for around an hour after I get out. Believe me it is heaven.

Thought I would let you know me a little bit. I am home most of the time and I love to talk. Feel free to get ahold of me anytime you need to talk, want to talk, feeling alone, or any other reason.

Welcome, oldcrowcutechick, I think your name describes me as well. I've had fibro for 26 years, but my family is pretty supportive of me. I try to go to the Y and walk in the warm water pool a couple of times a week. I also don't have pain in my legs while I'm in the pool. Unfortunately, it doesn't last for me after I get out. Plus, I'm totally drained. Fatigue is usually my worst problem anyway. So, welcome to you and you, too craftygal. Diane

Hi, Cutechick, and welcome!  Well, I'm no spring chicken either...I'm 62 years old.  So, join the club! 

 

I love the water, too.  I live in Florida and have a pool but I haven't been in it since November because of the weather.  I can't wait to get back in.  You are absolutely correct...the weightlessness of being in the water allows you to move with very little pain.  It's wonderful for you.  I also walk as a gentle exercise and that has helped me a lot, too.  It is important to keep moving with this lousy illness!

 

Having a good attitude helps immensely and it sure looks like you have that, too!  I'm glad you are doing well.

 

I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  We do have a wonderful group of people that love to help one another and, as a bonus, really care about each other, too.  I know you will like it here.  Don't hesitate to ask questions either because we are here to help.  I'm sure  you can give us some pointers, too.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

Welcome!  I just turned 37 and was diagnosed in 2002.  There is so much support here and so much wonderful information.  I have thanked my lucky stars way more than once for finding this forum.  Glad you found us.

Hi Cutechick and welcome to the family. I will be 60 in a few months, WOW, can't believe I just wrote that, LOL. You will get all the support here you can handle. That's what we do, help each other get from one day to the next by sharing what we find works for us to get there. We also have a little fun sometimes, we really need a reason to laugh some days.

Thank you one and all. I feel very welcome, something I haven't felt in a long time. Boy I know what you mean about energy mine usually runs on empty, but you have to keep trying.

Thank you Sharrine. I will take all help I can get.

I make jewelry, and key rings, book marks, etc. Personally I like the Christmas & Halloween jewelry the best. I crochet sweaters, blankets, and whatever I think I want to make.

Anything I can do to help anyone, I'm here. I have taken treatment as far as I can. My last adventure was the pain clinic and they said they couldn't help me more than I am helping myself. They told me to keep multi tasking as it can sometimes help to not think of the pain and any problems I may have. My favorite is playing games and watching TV. Not too strenuous. Tee Hee

but goodie." This forum is a blessing, people here understand the day to day trials and

Hi Cutechick! This is a great place to find support. I love the water too. I do a class in a therapy pool - it is heated to 90 degrees and feels wonderful! I will do the class and then sit in the hot tub and when I leave there is usually nothing that hurts - by the time I drive home though I start to stiffen again! Still worth it though.

I always look at all of the beads and stuff in the craft store - it looks like so much fun. Maybe someday. Glad you joined us!

Hi cutechick! Welcome. I love to meet crafters! Nothing helps with the fatigue like a project on the go! I swear by it. I find even just thinking about crafting can boost my morale. And there's no better perker-upper than looking at a few balls of yarn. My hubby will probably leave me if he sees me bring one more ball of yarn into the house - I have it everywhere, in every closet, cupboard and shelf! I am an addict, even though my kids keep me too busy to do much knitting lately. I too sell a craft online, and though business is slow, it's the perect pace for me! I have been lucky this past year to have been home, with the exception of a few part time hours on the weekend at a job. I don't mind it, since those few hours on my feet remind me of how important it is for me to be home as much as possible. Four hours I can do, anything more than that and I am ready to burst into tears, although I am so thankful that pain is secondary for me. I mostly have extreme fatigue to deal with, which makes me appear stupid most of the time. I cringe when I wonder what strangers trying to carry on a conversation with me must think! Welcome, Cutechick! This is such a great place to find information and support. It's so great to know that you are not alone. I also have an internet business. I used to do needlepoint and other crafts, but can't do that any longer because of the fibro since it affects my hands the most. I have found that it makes such a difference to be able to work at home and make my own hours. If I'm having a bout of insomnia, I can work at 3 am if I want to.

I love swimming for exercise also. My sister has a pool and I visit her in New Jersey pretty often in the summer. Swimming is the only time that I have no pain. I wish I had a yard big enough to get a pool of my own. Since I'm grossly overweight, I really don't want to go to a public pool - not so much because of embarrassment, but because I really don't want to offend anyone.

Please keep coming back here. I have found that coming here, even if it's just for a minute or two to read, has helped me so much. I know that I always have a place to go if things seem to get to difficult to handle.

Boy do I hear you. I am majorly over weight also, but my pool never make feel uncomfortable as a matter of fact there is accually people bigger than me. I was through ebay and then opened on the web but don't seem to get any traffic. I have been considering getting a table at the flea market but we will see. I agree with you I get so down sometime and when wrote here the other day just talking to people who understand made me feel so much better, and reading this site has been a life saver.

I have Fibro, arthritis in my hands and back, migraines, bad sinuses, exzema, and in 2002 I had a heart attack. It is hard to handle but I refuse to give up. Thank you all, I don't feel alone any more.

Glad to have you join us in our little island of pain. The more who join in the more information we all can benefit from. I too keep busy, too busy at times but I'm working on slowing it down to a dull roar. I'm a quilter so every minute I can spare I'm into fabric and stitching.

SusanLynn, I was very overweight, too.  But I never let it stop me from doing something I wanted to do.  With summer coming, find a bathing suit that is pretty and that you like.  Then head to the pool.  The first time you might feel funny but after that you won't mind.

 

I lost a lot of weight about five years ago.  Now, I'm not grossly overweight but my skin hangs!  I'm 62 years old so my skin won't bounce back like it would have when I was younger.  I look at my legs and the skin hangs like an elephant's!  shakehead   But, I've donned on my bathing suit and gone out to the pools in some of the finest resorts around!  I have a smile on my face and I'm friendly to people so THAT'S what they notice.  And my ugly legs?  I'm so thankful that they work and can get me to what I want to do. 

 

If people are going to judge you, they'll find something, no matter what you weigh!  I think you know that.  So, don't worry what other people think.  It's your life so go out and enjoy it while doing something very healthy for you.

If your web page doesn't get many hits, have you tried getting advertising through facebook and google adwords? I have, and it has made a big difference. You can set it up so you only pay a few cents when someone actually uses the link to visit your web page. If they don't click you don't pay. I pay about 50 cents per click, and finally I am getting regular hits on my web page,a nd people are ordering. Not tons of orders, mind you, but enough that every week I have one to send, and after a while it adds up. I wouldn't want to work harder than that anyway!!

I too am a crafter. I do beaded jewelry. I did a few tables last year and while it was fun around christmas time, i didnt make much profit. My plan was to sell jewelry to pay fo rmy treatment, but that hasnt worked out. I need to start again.

I am also obese but I wear my bathing suit proudly to the aquatherapy classes. my bathing suit has like a skirt bottom and is very nice. I go to the pool to get my pt in, not to impress anyone. there was a woman in the class who wearsa tshirt and shorts into the pool, an dI feel bad that she doesnt feel comfortable enough to wear a swimsuit.

I hope I'm doing this right.

I just joined, but I've had fibro for roughly 10 years. Some days it seems I'm fine, then I'll get cold chills and the pains and fatigue starts again. It's frustrating because I never know until I get up what I'll feel like, and that makes it hard to plan things, especially like baby sitting my two very active grandchildren.

I'm 62 and happily married and feel fortunate to be able to work from home.

I hope to become more knowledgeable about managing my fibro. I've read a lot of articles about it, but am more confused than ever.

That's about it, I think. Thank you.
