I, Again, and a belated welcome! The deaths and the anxiety are probably doing a "number" on you! They can cause more pain...definitely. I'm sorry you are going through that and you probably are still in a grieving period, too. Unfortunately, life goes on in a hurry.
I used to have huge anxiety problems until I realized it really was fear. Once I realized that and also realized I didn't have anything to REALLY be afraid of, then I could get a grip on the anxiety. When it would start to rise inside me, I recognized it, knew I wouldn't die from it, and was able to "dismiss" it and kept moving on. I would get busy doing something to take the focus off of me.
That's a problem with fibro. When you hurt, it's hard not to think about how you feel. But, once you get control of the pain, it just becomes a part of your life and you and move forward and enjoy life, even with the pain. I can usually find ways to work around the fibro to do the things I really want to do. I'm stubborn and will not let fibro control me. I control the fibro.
Have you checked out Fibro 101 yet? It is the second thread on the forum. There are links with good information about fibromyalgia and you will learn a lot there. The more you know about this illness, the better you are able to cope and control it.
I wish I could help you as far as your work goes. Try not to be frightened. So many times we worry ourselves sick over things that never happen! You might be just fine at work but you won't know unless you try. If you have a desk job, there are some good stretching exercises on Fibro 101 that you can do sitting down. Also, try to get up and walk around as often as possible. Perhaps the work could help you with the anxiety, too. You will be focused on something else and the pain and your problems will fade some in the background. If you have neck and shoulder pain, get yourself a Bed Buddy. They sell these at Walgreen's and other places. Or, you can make your own by taking a tube sock, filling it 2/3's full of raw long grain rice, and tying a knot at the end. Pop it in the microwave and it will give off moist heat due to the moisture in the rice! These do help and feel wonderful!
Let us know how your doctor's appointment goes and what you have decided to do. We really do care about you. I hope to hear more from you soon.
