Austen, we all get down but you don't want to stay there. I like myself. That is the first step. I try to help other people and try to do what God would want me to do. I can't do any more than that. So, like who you are.
You are more than likely not liking these health issues you have. I don't think anyone does but it's a fact of our lives. Dwelling on that does bring you down and can consume you and make you totally miserable. That makes things worse, doesn't it?!!!
Now that you like yourself and you accept your life here on earth, find things that you enjoy doing that add pleasure to you and your loved ones. Take each day at a time. You know you can do one day. Look forward to the next day and have hope you will feel better. Austen, that's what you do. One day at a time.
Look at all the good, positive, wonderful things in your life and all around you. When the negative thoughts come, don't accept them. Find something positive to shove those thoughts out of your mind. When I get really down, I go for walks. I look at the wonder of this world and can clear my head. I always feel better when I get back home.
