has anyone taken cymbalta for fibro?

 I began taking 30 mg's of cymnbalta about a week ago,along with my regular sleep meds,and there were no side effects.Last night I began 60mg's and today I pretty much slept all day,which is not normal for me.I do know that there are annoying side effects,sometimes for a week or more..But I can not tolerate sleeping all day,expecially now with my daughters prom and graduation. I have alot of running around to do. I guess the only thing I can do is call my dr and  ask if there is a lower dose maybe or if for the time being go back to 30 mgs.Or maybe I should reduce the sleep meds I already take. I am the type person that usually gives a new med a few weeks to see if I can tolerate the side effects or see if they go away,just sleeping all day is something I refuse to do ..

Has anyone else had excessive drownsiness on this med and if so how long did it last

I am currently taking Cymbalta for my Fibro - 60mg X 2x per day. I am on several other drugs and all of them include dizziness and drowsiness as side effects, so I can't say for sure if Cymbalta makes me tired, or if I'm just exhausted from fighting being in pain all the time. I do know that when I first started the Cymbalta, I was incredibly nauseated for about 3 days...severely so, that I was afraid to move. Then on the the morning of the 4th day, I woke up and it was gone.

Maybe chat with your doctor and see what you can do - like you say, perhaps cutting back on your sleeping medicine will make a difference

I was on it for a year. The dr played with the dose ranging from 30-120mg. I found that at 60mg helped the most with the pain, but that I was even more fatigued than normal, and was a bit loopy/high. To me, the fatigue is more debilitating than the pain, so I found this very frustrating. At 30mg I did not experience as much sleepiness, but the pain was not helped very much. Made me wish they made cymbalta in a 45mg capsule, because at that range I felt the best, but that is annoying to do on a daily basis. I'm no longer on it because I want something that will help me function, and cymbalta did not do that for me. Also, the nausea never subdued. For the whole year I would feel dizzy and would vomit after taking it occasionally.

I lasted about 3 months on it.  It made me crazy, moody, and ready to jump out of my skin.  I can't remember if it made me tired tho.

I tokk cynbalta for years and my insurance decided that they did not want to pay for. So I stoped with no withdrawals or increase in pain. Now I take, zoloft, wellbutrin and abilify

oh it newver made me sleepy
