Yesterday around 3 pm, I started shivering and asked my husband for two blankets and to turn the a/c down. I even went outside and sat in the hot car for a while to get warm. Well, I came inside and fell asleep for a while and when I woke up I had 103 fever. So, being the nurse I am, I had decided that I had a urinary tract infection and got a course of antibiotics to take. Well my fever was not going down and I am not even two weeks post up from a hysterectomy, so I asked my hubby to take me to the ER,
I was poked and prodded and stuck and had blood drawn and blood cultures and urine cultures and had a CT scan with contrast and low and behold, I was pronouced with a UTI and was given IV antibiotics and fluids. I spent the night in the hospital ER and was discharged after 7 am.
I spent the day sleeping and in between drinking water.
Meanwhile, I called my surgeon in Tampa, just to let him know what had come to pass and discovered in talking to him, that the washingings of my peritoneum from the surgery were positive for cancer as well as the cervix. Let me just say , Oh Crap. Well, he says the chemo and radiation won't be too bad. We will see. He is a good surgeon and has a calm demeanor so he inspires confidence in me. At least there is that.
I missed my granddaughter's kindergarden graduation mass today. That bumms me out too.
OK I will keep you all posted.
