Effexor....

Hi, I use Effexor, I am on 225mg a day. I love it, I am also bipolar and it has worked great. It has stopped the migraines I get. I hope it wil work for you.

I was on it for 3 weeks but it didn't agree with me (or I didn't agree with it, depending on how you look at it.) I felt a pressure in my chest - not the first time by any means, but I just wasn't comfortable with it. It didn't really help my pain, either. Hopefully, it will work for you.

I took it for a bit, but it was wrong for me. Made me feel like a zombie. Nothing made me cry, laugh or anything else, and that was the lowest dosage. Definitely was not the one for me. But since everyone reacts differently to medications, you never know until you try. As you can see, others have had very positive results from it.

I'm on wellbutrin, and it has improved my pain levels. Not drastically, but I did notice an improvement after a month or so, and any improvement is welcome. So I would tend to agree with your doctor that it might help you out with the pain if it is the right medication for you.

Yes, Pristiq is more pricey because it is new.  Effexor was suppose to go generic in June of this year.  I don't know if it did or not, but I think I read in somebodies post that it did.  I have insurance though so I only have to pay 20.00 for each prescription. 

I sure hope the effexor works for you.  Like I said above, I took it for many years.  And it worked well for me.  So best of luck to you.  I hope it has you feeling better soon.

It gets so frustrating when the medical professionals are incompetant. Not that your doctor is, but he did write the wrong ammount. Plus them not getting back to you. But if you are five minutes late for an appointment, you lose your place. I guess I am just ranting, but there are other professionals, not just medical. It just makes me boil when I think of all the things that we have to put up with. And if we make a mistake, wham!!!

Personally, I don't think it caused me to gain weight.  I was on it for many years.  Towards the end, I started gaining weight, but I think it was due to the firbormyalgia and my age.  Before fibro I was quite active and I think that the effexor was the reason.  It really was a good medication for me.  I hope that it works well for you.  It is suppose to be weight neutral.
