Missy, I have Crohn's and have been on Prednisone many times. I have autoimmune inner ear disease and they put me on 80 mg of Prednisone every day for a month to see if it could stop the progressive hearing loss. The first couple of days I felt absolutely wonderful! I actually landscaped my front yard! But, then I started getting sicker and sicker and it pretty much shut down my immune system. Plus, I lookd like the Pillsbury Dough Boy! It took me four months to be weaned off it.
You aren't taking as much so you probably won't have this type of problem. But, like you, I was surprised that it made me feel better! It's not supposed to help fibro. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory and it helps me a lot, too. I've read that it is prescribed for fibro but if fibro isn't an inflammatory illness, why do that?
So, I personally think there is some inflammation involved in fibro by my body's reaction to these medications. I'm not a doctor but I do live in my body. I'm not just written words on a page. Remember, the doctors still don't know what is causing this illness but are realizing we really DO have a problem and it's not all in our heads.
Well, you have my comments now. I do hope you feel better an the Prednisone helps your Crohn's. Prednisone can be a very nasty medication and I don't take it unless it's absolutely necessary OR a small amount. Actually, I had a rash 22 years ago and my doctor gave me a Prednisone dosepak. The day I took the very last pill was the day I was hit with fibro! Go figure! My rash was gone but I felt I had been run over by a semi. But, seven years later I was given those huge doses of Prednisone and didn't have a problem. ~Sherrine shaking her head...totally confused...~
