Small fiber neuropathy test? Therapath

So my doctor called me and had me come in today for a new test. It is by theraoath and is a skin biopsy for small fiber neuropathy. He said because of the burning , tingling, and numbness it may show something going on.

They numbed my skin in two places, outside calf and outside thigh then took small 3mm skin samples.... diudnt hurt then but it is burning like crazy now. Why did i sign up to be a gopher trial test?? lol

Anyone else get this test and did it help with any diagnosis?

Awww, Fiesty - I hope the sensation goes away soon. Hope too they can find a reason for what you're experiencing. I've never had that test, but when I had a biopsy a month or two ago, the dang thing itched like there was no tomorrow - then I reacted to the glue substance on even the least offensive skin tape / bandaids! My sympathies. Hope it all turns out to be of benefit to you in the long run.

I've had a few snips for moles. Mine were cauterized with some liquid. Stopped them from hurting later, mostly. You're in for a couple of small white scars.

Yeah the pain is not as bad but the itching from the adhesive is making me crazy! They said most likely since the are almost positive with my DX of fibromyalgia that there will be nothing remarkable in the samples. But if it will help with diagnosis for fibro patients in the future then it is worth it. Who knows maybe they will be able to detect something in the neuro fibers that can be used to help diagnose fibro by ruling out other things??

You should feel good about yourself for doing this! I don't think I'd have the guts.
