JUST CAME HOME FROM HOSPITAL

Hello and I hope you all are well, my dear Healing Well family.

Last Thursday, I was admitted to the ER for rapid heart rate at 161. (Atril fib with RVR for those of the medical field).  They gave me some IV cardizem and it converted to a normal rhythm after a while.  They then started a heparin drip and admitted me to ICU.  My cardiac enzymes were slightly elevated throughout the hospital stay, but the cardiologist said that he felt it wasnt a heart attack, but that if I continued chemo or radiation, that I would have a heart attack.  He also told me I didnt need radiation because I was at a stage I for my cancer.  He further told me his sister just died at age 52 from breast cancer.  I told him that my cancer was endometrial and not breast cancer, and that the oncologist told me this was a particularly aggressive cancer.  He continued to tell me that I didnt need radiation.  I got so upset by his unprofessionalism I threw him out of my room. I mean who is he to tell me I don't need radiation? He also told me I needed a cardiac cath because I could have a heart blockage.

So now I need to contact my oncologist and discuss this.  I also need a second opinion of both the cardiologist and the oncologist.  I have an appt this Fri with the oncologist to discuss my options.  Not soon enough for my taste, but what can I do?

I want to thank you for all your concern and prayers.  They keep me whole and it keeps me going.  You all give me strength.  I love you all for that.

I am so sorry that you had to go through all of this. I hope that your heart rate is stable now. Please do keep us posted on how things are going. And know that we are all praying for you. You are one special lady and we don't want to see you suffer in any way.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I would definitely get a second opinion, especially from my oncologist. In my experience (with family members), Oncologists are used to having to watch for heart related problems, but Cardiologists aren't necessarily used to dealing with cancer. I hope you get everything worked out so you can continue on your path to getting well.

Linda, I am so sorry you are having to deal with this along with everything else.  I will be praying for you that your Oncologist will get all this worked out for you.  I'm so glad you are keeping us posted.

Well I went to see my primary yesterday and he said that I need to continue with the chemo and the radiation or the cancer may come back and I may die. Meanwhile he gave me a referral to a cardiologist whom I hear from the nurses in ICU, is wonderful. So, I am excited by that. My oncology appt with my doctor is this Friday morning. Hopefully he will review the hospital records and determine what is what.

Meanwhile, my daughter is making me an appointment for a second oncologist opinion in Tampa at Moffit cancer center.

I sure hope this all gets resolved. I am tired of the conflict of opinions to tell you the truth. But I trust my primary. I just need to see if the oncologist concurs or not.

Sorry that cardiologist said that to you about his sister, you didn't need to hear that. Sometimes Dr.'s can say things that hurt. I think looking for a different cardiologist is a good idea. I'm glad your daughter is helping you.

I hope everything eases up for you, you don't need extra stress.
