One thing I've always found interesting is the origin of names and where people's families originated. Many of us have likely dug into genealogy either a bit or gung-ho head first...lol The question for today is...where in the world do your ancestors come from? If you are comfortable sharing, how far back can you go?

My Dad's family was from England and they came over is the 1600's. At that time two brothers came to Hartford, Connecticut and helped settle the town. Many years ago hubby and I traveled there and located the obelisk with the founders names on it and there were the two brothers. It was fun to see. It's not like they were famous or anything, just that they were among a couple of dozen men who began the town. From there one brother migrated north and west into Canada and the other began slowly moving in an westerly direction. We do have 1 relative, who is a cousin and he had no children. He was Fredrick Law Olmstead, the man who designed Central Park in NY and many other parks, garden and landscapes. Maybe I got the tiniest bit of genes from him as my love for plants has carried me through my entire life. My mothers side was English and Irish so we're well set in the British Isles.

My mom's family came from Wales. Someone has already done the genealogy on that side and has even set up a website. It is quite interesting. My great-great-etc. grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War, and my great grandfather married a Cherokee Indian.

My husband is German and French, so my daughter is a mixture of German, French, Welsh, and Cherokee Indian.

My roots are Scottish Irish and American Indian.  Both sides of my family have deep south roots.  My Mother has a very rare birth mark under her left eye that extends to the top of her head that many years ago she saw a few plastic surgeons for and they both told her that this birthmark is generally found in Asian or African American people so we're not sure where that comes in.

Dad's family was German. I can trace my roots back to 1797, the year my great-
great Grandfather was born in Ennigerloh, Germany. He came to America in 1836.

My Mom is of Irish and French descent.

I'm a mix of English, German, Dutch, French, Scotch, and Irish. My mom tried so hard to get all the genealogy from hers and my dad's familes in order before she died, but that didn't happen, and now that's one of the things I really want to accomplish.

I do know both sides came over in the 1700s, and I have an ancestor on her side who fought in the Revolutionary War, and one on my dad's who was a bugle boy in the Civil War. Fascinating stuff. Now to wade through all the boxes and files!

Heinz 57 too, from what I know....which is little....grandfather was Indian, my grandmother from her last name seems German. My dad greek and Italian.

Odd that there are so many Cherokee. Add me to that list, my great grandmother was Cherokee. That's my dad's side, he's also English. My mom's side is Scottish, Irish, French and German. Diane
