Soma alternative?

So I've been prescribed Soma for break through pain. I'm taking Lyrica and Tramadol each day, but the Soma is as needed. The Tramadol is still quite helpful, the lyrica is as good as it once was, but I'll keep trying with it.

But the soma makes me a bit groggy, so I was wondering if there was an better alternative that any one had luck with?

Right now its 350mg and I can take 3 a day. On the first day, they seemed to do the trick. But after that, they're side effects are pretty strong.

I was reading, and from my understanding things like Ativan would help with side effects, is that true?

Or I could look for other medicines which will help with break through pain, as my doctor seems to be shying away from things like Vicodin. I understand it has negative effects, but I'm looking for shot term relief, not something I'd take daily.


But I guess it could be a slippery slop.

For what its worth, I tried Flexeril a while back which really hit me hard. I'm looking for something I can take during the day and won't effect my studying/work too much. Currently I have 2x 50mg Tramadol, but my tolerance seems to be a a level where that 100MG of tramadol is required.(plus 200 ER which I take)

I take 350 mg also. When I had a ruptured disc in my back I took 750 mg. Those were knock out pills, but I needed them at the time. Soma is the best muscle relaxant I have found for my own situation. I just have to make sure I take it after a meal. Sorry you are having so much trouble w/pain. Maybe you won't need to take three a day if you take one at night and one after lunch...??? Hope you find the right combination soon. I know how frustrating it can be.
