Hi, all,

I'm going to try and make this brief as I always get long winded...

I've been out of work for over a year. It was my choice. I had a new job that I lasted for 4 months, it was very high stress, 55+ hours per week, husband was away for work, and my health was failing, just not a good place for me. so I resigned.

Since I left that last job, I've be mostly focused on my health which I am WAY better than I was then, but I've been also looking for a job that was much better suited for me: Part time, less stress, closer to home, etc. I haven't had ANY luck in over a  year.

So yesterday a friend texts me, asking about my daughter's health (was sick). Found out my friend's boss is DESPARATELY looking for more medical technologists (that's me) to work PRN, monday through friday, no weekends, no holidays. WHAT??? Sent my resume and she's interested!!!

THEN, not 30 second's after sending the first resume, another friend calls and says she's stopping by to drop something off. While here, she tells me HER friend is looking for someone and to please forward my resume. I did and was told SHE'll be calling me. WHAT??? TWO possible offer's within minutes of each other after a year of NOTHING??  Now I know why... My parents are trying desparately to get to Florida for the winter but my dad's heath is holding them back. He's in the hospital again but actually made progress this time and feels some better and thinks he might actually get to go. He tells me yesterday that he wants me and my daughter there with him and he doesn't care how much it costs. He'll pay. They are staying RIGHT on COCOA BEACH on a resort for 6 WEEKS!!! So, THAT's why I'll get a job offer now. To screw THAT up :-).

I'm not complaining, I really want to get back to work and so does our bank account. Dangit, I was long winded again :-).

I think this is a win-win situation. Either you get a job or you get to spend six weeks in Cocoa Beach. There are certainly positives with both situations -- spending time with your family... working and putting some dollars in your bank account. If only you could have the best of both worlds!

Yes, vacation and then work. Wouldn't that be wonderful?!? Either way it is a win win situation. I hope that you like your new job, whichever one it may be. Keep us posted.

Maybe I spoke too soon on both accounts. I haven't received either phone call and I've been toting my cell phone around like it's my 3rd arm (HATE THAT) and realized I can't go to Florida for 6 weeks unless I get someone to take care of my cat for 6 weeks. I can't leave the cat home with my husband as he could travel at a moments notice and I can't take her to Flroida with me because we are taking the train and they don't allow animals except service animals. BUMMER!!

I would go on the grounds that I could catch a quick flight back if/when hubby gets called out of town. who knows, maybe it wont happen and you will get 6 wonderful weeks that you probably need and deserve.

If you have self feeders a cat can go several days without someone home and that would buy a few days if/when/should he get called out.

just an idea?

Yah, I thought about the flying thing. I HATE to fly but if that means still going to Florida even for just a little while, I might have to bite the bullet :-)! And the self feeder thing is an idea. I could still take the train back which takes just a day. Yes, I'd rather take a 24 hour train ride than a 2 hour flight :-)!

Mrs_Mike, go and check a bulletin board at your supermarket, schools, church, etc. for people who pet sit. I have seem numerous postings for people that will come to your house and take care of your pets. Not stay over but come by once a day to feed and clean up. I don't know if you can afford this but hopefully this can be an option for you. Good luck with the job search.
