spasms can't breath

confused  Question!!!  my right shoulder is hurting really really bad.  I think it is spasming so bad I can't take a deep breath.

Is this Fibro???????

It sure doesn't take much to get stressed out.  My son was grapping about something   Oh My!!!!

Marilyn, I am dealing with something similar.  The muscles over my left shoulder blade spasm if I take a deep breath.  I am doing stretching exercises and that helps me.  You can find them on Fibro 101.  Another exercise that helps if the pain is in your back is to bend at the waist looking at the floor.  Let your arms hang loose.  Then, start swinging your arms all around and you will feel the muscles being stretched in your back.  It feels good to me!  Hope this helps!

Sherrine, I tried the stretching exercise. It really hurt, but I can see how it works. I figured the spasms in my shoulder where causing this. I am still learning about Fibro. I mostly just read everyones post. Very interesting.
This thing ? has been in my shoulder for 3 weeks. So I guess spasms are part of Fibro. ?????

I hope that your shoulder gets better soon. Most of my fibromyalgia pain is in my neck and shoulders, but have been having hip and back pain lately. I think it is a part of getting older for me. I don't know.

Keep doing the stretches, but remember to stretch gently. Do not over do it or you will be paying for that.

Hi Marilyn!

I agree that stretching, very gently, can really help the muscles. And yes, it CAN be part of fibro. It can also be a multitude of other things. That's why I feel the best idea is to have your doctor check it out.

Some of the possibilities range from a tendon or muscle that has been pulled or torn, bursitis, gall bladder problems, arthritis, tendonitis, and even heart problem pain can show up in that area. That's what happened to my mother. Please don't jump to any conclusions by any of the dozens of possibilities. But you can see why it's a good idea to have someone who knows what they're doing to check it out. Three weeks is long enough to suffer so I would suggest you have it checked out soon. The most common types of causes are pulled muscles, arthritis or bursitis and any of those are easy treatments.

I have had this for over a year i had a lot of tests to rule out hard and other things the only think that helps me is trigger point injections every month and like the others say streching take care Deb
