Hi all,

I have been having really bad lower back pain for about 2 weeks now, i have been to see the gp this morning and he thinks its to do with my fibro, because its worse in the morning and last thing at night confused

Does anyone else suffer with lower back pain? if so, do you have any tips for me?

Hi Amz, I'm sorry you'e back is hurting. I hope you aren't a stomach sleeper...that's the worst for your back. If you sleep on your side, place a pillow between your legs and one under your head and hold one to your chest...this helps me. If I sleep on my back, I put a pillow under my knees. I sleep on a firm mattress
with a thick pillow top, and I've added a foam topper. I've also started sleeping on satin sheets...it helps me slide out of bed,lol.

When I wake up each morning I take time to do some gentle stretching before getting out of bed. Walking strengthens your back, so it is a great exercise. I love walking!!!

Make sure to do gentle stretching throughout the day and try to avoid straining your back by bending. I stoop to pick things up.

Hi, I get lower back pain & spasms.  Sometimes it doesn't even hurt unless I am walikng or something and I feel a spasm with every step.....  I don't really have any answers for you but if I rest mine and ice it (yuck, I hate ice smhair ) I do get some relief.  Or even alternate ice and heat.

Denise - How about sucking a popsicle?
I need to get back to walking too, but we got 3 inches of snow just this afternoon, so I shoveled and plowed instead. It's still coming down fast and hard.

Alcie, what does a popcicle do for back spasms?  You got me stumped

We just got about 2" in 45 minutes......3" - 6" by 10:00 am........

I get chronic lower back pain. I wake up w/ chronic back pain and it gets a bit better throughout the day and then by the evening, I am in excruciating pain too. I thought I had a lower back problem, but it seems to all be from FM. I get a lot of back of the neck pain and lower back pain. This is my chief complaint. I was also told today that have a very low Vitamin D levels. It was always low, but it has gone lower. Does anyone have any info on lack of Vitamin D and what it can cause. I cannot take the vitamin because it irritates stomach and I pretty much keep away from the sun. Hope you get better or some relief on your back. God Bless

Denise - my mistake - I was thinking of the sucking on ice to take the mind off pain thing. That wasn't yours though. Reading yours again, you were putting ice on the pain. Must be fibro fog. Still, sucking on a popsicle sounds like it might help. :)
I hope the snow stops so I can see the shoulder doc tomorrow. 4X4 goes great in snow but doesn't stop any better coming down the hills.

Alcie, I was going to guess zelie!!!  I live in a log house and when it is getting close to the time the bug guy is due we have woodpeckers.  Seriously they are eating tiny bugs on the wood siding (not that you have bugs) we have all that wildlife too.

My stepson works for penn dot in Washington / Cannonsburg and he just called with the update for our area 4" - 8".  I have an easy 4" and if this keeps up there will be more than 8".  I think you are getting more (sorry)

Sorry for your pain. I have a lot of lower back problems (see signature)....I even went through - get this - the "back school" back in the 80s through a physical therapy clinic. Yes, I graduated! - which means I learned how to lift, squat not bend, sleep, sit, etc. (ironic - now I can't even lift one pound a lot of the time without aggravating my pain.)

But if I forget correct body mechanics and bend over, or do anything else really stupid (for me) I'm in a lot worse trouble. So it's worth it.

I bring a pillow with me every time I'm going to be sitting in a chair - work, restaurants, people's houses, planes, everywhere. And if I forget it, my back lets me know right quick.
