My biopsy showed that do not have Giant Cell arteritis, a disorder that causes inflammation of the lining of the arteries...it usually affects the arteries in the head.....still do not know what caused my arteries to buldge. I did not think I had this disorder because of recent bloodwork.
My body is producing positive ANCA antibodies geared toward autoimmune systemic small vessel vasculitis. I'm ANCA MPO positive... there are a few disorders that fit this...it is going to be a wait and see,
It is always a puzzle of clinical symptoms and bloodwork.
Many of the autoimmune diseases are treated using the same type of meds, so there will really be no changes. I already take immunosupressants.
The good thing is that I am beginning a slow taper off prednisone. Hopefully I can lose the 13 lbs, I put on in one month. The euphoria I felt when I first started prednisone was short-lived, and since I have felt like I'm going through menopause all over again..hot flashes.
I've been to the opthalmologist twice recently...been having visual disturbances...occular migraines, and something the doc is concerned about...seeing quick blue flashes in both eyes. I'll be seeing a retina specialist on the 24th. I've had my eyes dilated twice in less than 2 wks. I'm not worried about this one either...in fact I went out and bought a fun pair of new glasses...if I really thought my sight was in danger, I wouldn't of spent the money :)
I'm leaving tomorrow for Wisconsin...visiting family and friends. You all will be in my prayers and hope you have pain -free days ahead.
Sending you all gentle hugs...see you in 2 weeks!
Hugs, Robin
