Well after a year of awful pain, I had a doctor start testing me for fibro this week. I had never even heard of it, but he said i sound like a text book case.I honestly thought I was going crazy! I will give you a bit of history, I am a 26yr old female from Australia and have been married 6months to a wonderful and understanding man. I have suffered mild anxiety since my late teens,but Paxil really helps that. But for the last year I have suffered with these symptoms daily
*tingling and buzzing in feet and hands
*horrible pain particularly in neck,back and legs..can hardly sleep and when I do I am a mess when I wake!
*frequently get a crawling sensation on my body that is almost painful..almost like it hurts to wear a bra or clothes (weird)
*easily exhausted..I mean exhausted over day to day housekeeping
*rib pain
*pain that is awful all over ache..especially in cold weather, I seriously live In a hot bath ATM

It's been driving me crazy as I thought it was just back problems but I see a chiropractor twice a week and just don't get any relief!
Am very grateful to have found this site as you all have made me feel a little less crazy and alone

Hi Stevie and welcome!

This a a great supportive forum--lots of kind and helpful people here. I've had fibro for 20 years and possibly my entire life as it may be genetic from my Mom. Your post resonated with me as my fibro is very active in my arms and legs and neck and HANDS. My poor buzzing hands! I find that wearing the carpel tunnel braces at night when I sleep helps a lot. It took me awhile to get used to them (having my hands trapped in something) but when I wake up and take them off my hands then do not go into to throbbing/tingling mode. I also use a Bed Buddy (made my own)--in my case a men's sock filled 3/4 full of rice and tied at the end. I have played around with how long to heat it in the microwave and 1 min 30 sec. works for me and then I drape it around my neck. The heat is moist and it helps the pain. I also have the creepy crawling sensation on my skin and haven't quite figured out a fix for that. Like a few others here I do not take prescriptions as I have sensitivity to medicine so just do my own regime of Ibuprofen with food and supplements. I just haven't investigated meds beyond that but what ever you find works for you I would say go for it. Fibro is a horrible thief of the quality of life and of feeling great. There is so much now I cannot do and truth be told it makes me a little angry. I'm 61 and when I read of someone who is young like you and one of fibro's victims it makes me feel so sad. Hang it there. I am glad to hear you have a supportive and understanding mate. Keep posting here. You'll be glad you did.

Thank you for your kind words..right now I feel a little overwhelmed by how quickly this can come on! But I guess I have to grin and bear it and find what works, as I said baths seem to really help me, my poor hubby is so used to me running the bath at all ungodly hours:)
Now here is another question for you ladies out there, being a newlywed, my husband and I have been trying to start a family..however I do have polycystic ovarian syndrome and have already experienced an early miscarriage recently (having a bad few months) so now I am wondering how a fibro diagnosis will play into pregnancy? Does anyone have any stories? I imagine the added pain and fatigue would be crazy!

Hi Stevie and welcome to the forum!! You have found a great place to vent, read and ask questions because "someone" on here has been through just about all the symptoms or situations. I was starting to think I was crazy for a while there and this place showed me that I am not.

As far as pregnancy goes, I can't answer that as I have no kids. The skin crawley feeling, yep I have that along with just about all your other symptoms. I also use the bed buddy, helps with the neck. I can't think (((fog))) of other things right now>>>LOL

The skin crawley is driving me nuts about now. The USA in certain parts has been invaded by stink bugs (BMSB's) and the skin crawley feels like one is crawling on me and drives me crazy because they do turn up in the wierdest places and have been on me. And no they are not associated with a dirty house LOL. Thank You China!!! that's where they came from((((((shudder)))))

The crawly skin is the worst thing I have discovered, and this has only come on recently. It actually makes my skin almost hurt/burn to wear clothes!! I think some of the first doctors and my hubby thought I had gone nuts when I told them that!! So goodbye bra unless necessary (I have never been blessed in the chest area luckily :)
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by this preliminary diagnosis...I actually feel relieved that I haven't gone crazy, haha, and my symptoms are real!

Hi, Stevie, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  You have many things that sound like fibro but these can be symptoms of other problems too.  I'm sure your doctor is in the process of ruling out the other things, since fibro doesn't have a certain test to give a definite answer.  I've had fibro for 24 years and have had a wonderful life in spite of it.

 

Be sure to check out Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Check out the links called Symptoms, What Else Could It Be, and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  These are good starting points.  Learn all you can because knowledge is power.
